Actually, the US Capitol Police are under congressional control, not the president. But yes, they are not DC Metro.

There wasn't a conservative among that bunch of idiots at the capital today.

 

Collective apathy, lack of vigilence, failure of the imagination, call it whatever you want to. It's kinda like 9/11 on a smaller scale. Why weren't the planes intercepted and shot down? It had to happen before anyone would believe it could happen. But now that it has, something has been lost forever. Security will tighten immensely around the Capitol, and the distance between the people and their elected representatives will grow ever greater.

 

He just whined about not getting a commission and then stood down. He dressed it up, but real grace would have just stood down.

Now a Dem is arguing the other side. Can’t they all just stop and move on and certify the damn thing.

Maybe some apathy, but I tend to think it's more toward a failure of imagination, ntm a failure to step up based on what was occurring.

I do hope long term that today serves as a heat check on all the congressional members, I think things will tamp down for a while. Might even see some bipartisan legislation to send a message.
