Transfer Portal Thread (Other Schools)

Look. I’m an older middle aged guy who does CrossFit. Not a top level Sec football athlete, so I honestly have very little understanding of what it takes to be a top level D1 athlete. That said. Marco looked all world as a freshman, but after his injury he looks timid and uncertain to me. Subconscious perhaps, but still to me there is a lingering confidence issue for Marco.

I see him as a liability on the D right now and could use another year to get back to his Potential. I think he’ll be an NFL bust unless he gets his mind right. Throwing shoes - really? Showboating over routine plays for a guy of his caliber? He’s very pleased to meet himself right now. I think the reality is that he’s the 24th rated CB in the upcoming draft and that’s waaaaayyy at the back. Let’s see how that works out. My guess is UDFA. JMHO.

 

He was known as being one of the best cover guys in the nation, but his speed held him back. Even the highlights he picked showed that he couldn't increase his pace at UF. Too many true freshmen have recovery speed in Pouncey, Rogers, and Helms.

 

Remember when Meyer was here, he had the players work in the spring with the track team to increase their speeds. That would benefit us again.

Not since his injury. I think he had a great freshman year and was never the same after he was hurt.

 

Praying he doesn’t come back. Need new blood. It wouldn’t be good for the team. He is what he is and that is a mediocre cornerback (putting it mildly).

 

Best of luck to him. I think he'll eventually end up a starter somewhere.

What I found interesting is our players even do their showboat celebrations for making routine plays in practice. He got beat on a few of those highlights and the ball was just plain late or underthrown. He's got that "no arms" tackling technique down though.

My only recollection of him from a game was him being scared to make a tackle.

Quite the reversal of fortune for a highly recruited kid that many thought was the future for SC.
On a similar note, I see that former SC qb Jake Bentley is again transferring, this time from Utah where he was the starter down the stretch.

 

He had some really nice stretches as a freshman

We could use a big talented kid.

 

Maybe less transfer activity would lead to more success in initial recruiting(I may have said). Tough to balance for the coaches.
