That is an excuse, line up in a simple defense and just play. What is the worse that happens? Bama scores on every drive? oh, that happened already....
Tbf, his competition was Hill, not Marco, and Hill is a similar coverage guy and faster, while both are a liability trying to stop the run. Having not taken the star position, and Johnson being the heir apparent to Stew and a lot better fit than Kimbrough, Kimbrough was set up to be a career backup at CB, and he maybe wants to be a starter somewhere, which he definitely should be at a lower level because he showed good coverage skills in high school. This is probably the right move for him with all the young talent as freshmen and incoming at DB.
fsu is the Island of Misfit Toys, so, there must be a back story. Maybe his injuries are limiting him?
FSU does have potential ‘playing time’ to entice transfer players and will probably sign several others from the portal
Isn't kimbrough a 170lb redshirt freshman? I'd love for him to stay but every kid isn't ready to play immediately.
Spring Sleeper: Florida CB Chester Kimbrough Is Bound For A Big Sophomore Season Say what y'all want, but the kid can cover better than other guys in our secondary, including 2 and 3. Don't know why he lost so many snaps from freshman to sophomore year.
I’d like to grab he and Antonio Shelton from Penn State. I am sure shorter could help sell both of them. Shelton is a graduate transfer with one year and is the plug and play guy we need as he would be an instant starter. Really like him a lot and think he would be in immediate impact performer for us next year. Culpepper will be a nice guy to have to add depth as I could see him really helping us a year or two down the road. Shelton is a big one. Since we have spots I hate to see somebody else take him
According to a Michigan mod we have reached out to Shelton. Hate to beat a dead horse but that would be a monster pick up for us as he is a very solid guy and an immediate plug and play dude
I posted this elsewhere....would love to see Culpepper at least come in initially as a walkon and save us a counter. He's a great student, and we know financially it's not an issue anyway. Huge family legacy going back generations. Just don't know where things stand as UF didn't push for either Judge or borther Rex (Syracuse qb). But for Judge I would sell a conversion to OT. Was a 250 lb HS TE so he has blocking experience, but really outgrew the position. Not sure he can really make his mark at DT, but an agile and smart 6-5 295 lb OT sounds like a possibility. Doubt it happens, little out of the box....but you never know
I’m with you 100% and not usually this type of guy… But there’s a part of me that would like to right the ship with the family. I don’t have great information but have heard that family is not real happy with us not pushing for Rex. Looks like we just reached out to the other kid from Penn State Shelton according to the Michigan board (Mod). That would be a monster pick up.
Out of curiosity what are young n’s? Did u mean young’ns? I’m very confused and now this has started a whole new debate in my brain.
To be totally fair to this entire argument, almost no dc is going to flat play bump/ man without fail. He will get his ass handed to him bec of all the running qb’s now. That’s a large reason why so many teams run zone/combos etc now. The minute u turn ur back with most qbs now they are assholes and Elbows for a first down. My bigger issue with tg was how is it that many of these starters had been with him 3 years and still not be able to run a semi effective zone or even seem to know how to. Yes I agree and think Chad may have weighed heavily on Marco starting but there’s still not sufficient answers about the d as a whole unless I’m to buy that the dudes they’ve brought in cant play a lick. I’m not there yet
