you seem to be following in the path of the great orange one and just making crap up and posting it as some sort of alternative fact or something

and not a single member of my family, other than my mother who is on lockdown in a nursing home, has had covid. of course we mask, always have, distance, don't eat inside, etc.

Nope I'm just pointing out how you and others on this board love to blame others but do the opposite for yourself. You're guilty of what you blame others for.

Funny people talking about living their lives and not being hermits.
I biked, ran and hiked sections of the Stanley Gap trail system outside blue ridge, ga over the past several days. Didn’t feel like a hermit.
Some consider #livinglife hitting the Waffle House without a mask. I guess it takes all types.

Funny who said you personally was living like a hermit, nobody did you're just feeling left out.

I live in Loudoun county, it’s hardly some demilitarized zone. Sidewalk cafes have business when I go by, my favorite Chinese restaurant is very much still in business, but people wear masks, because, and I know this is crazy, this is a well educated place and that’s what science says will not only protect you but those you come in contact with.
And Virginia’s death rate is around half of Florida’s as a result, and Florida is slowly pulling away. So a college student feels it’s overblown...great let’s ask her grandparents or the 20k Florida residents who have died from it. Oh wait, can’t ask them? How about their families?

Heading home after a long day of work.
Stopping by salon to pick up gift certificate for wife.
Then 1.5 hour nighttime trail ride on MTB with a buddy.
Stop off at neighbor's small gathering in his driveway with his firepit (actually a solo stove) for a whiskey.

No need to point fingers, even the disciplined Swedes have realized that government suggestions don't work. I think highly of ourselves, but we're probably not more disciplined than the Swedes.

The bottom line is that you need enforcement. Look at Hawaii, they'll throw you in jail for violating quarantine orders, and it's working pretty well all things considered. HK just had a 50 hour manhunt for a COVID+ guy who ran from the hospital.

If cops start handing out citations for violating COVID orders, we might have a shot, but otherwise, we're nine months into lockdowns and most have reached COVID fatigue by now. As you can see with our football team, it takes a lot of training and enforcement to overcome fatigue and stay disciplined. It's no different for this case. Mental and physical fatigue are equally real, and without constant training and enforcement we as a society cannot remain vigilant forever.

We knew there would be a winter surge, but this is just nuts. I guess we're gonna get reports of a million cases/day at some point (exaggerating . . . sort of).
