If guys come back to increase their draft stock but younger players feel it is their time then someone is gonna go. Schools will have to decide if they should encourage older guys to move on (show they can learn a new system and be productive) or watch the future roll out.

One problem with the portal - I have yet to see a true difference maker at OT transfer. If they are good they play or go pro. Similarly m, DT is typically weak in the portal. Schuler was a good player for us but we need a sure fire starter but portal DTs are more like Dunlap than say Easley or Floyd level players.

There is probably gonna be a full-time staff position (in Bama’s case, multiple) with this now, ‘Portal Director’.

But it's true in the grand scheme of things. The portal shouldn't be used to fill misses on the recruiting trail

He won’t play heavy enough to be a de, Cox will more than likely remain an olb. Prob best

Cox is Yannick Ngakwe. Same player. Cant defend the run, good pass rusher, except teams have started taking Yannick off the field on run downs. Gators should do the same. Play 10 and 17 at end on run downs, take out 55 and bring in 1 on pass downs.

They might even have to set up temporary offices for this director and his staff complete with Portal-Potties.

Moore must have had some crazy work ethic. Always confused me when he was on the field instead of Wynn.

No sense in asking/expecting a dude to gain 25 lbs and become what he isn’t....just use like he’s supposed to be used and stfu about it imo. I don’t mean to sound crabby about how the d is handled but I’m getting gameday anxiety

cox is a sophomore in his first full season of real playing time. I can see him making a big leap next season. Not saying he’ll be an AA, but he’s hardly reached his ceiling either.

Needs to be better with edge assignments... can’t be so focused on rushing the passer that he allows a ball carrier to get 12 yards by running through the giant hole that Cox creates from his overzealous pass rush

On runs, "making the play" as a DE often does not mean making the tackle but containment so help from inside makes the tackle. Team defense is not his strength yet. Speaking of, Cox needs more strength to hold the edge. That strength will help him on bull rushes. Kid could really make a jump in the draft if he rounds out his game.

I agree. He needs to improve for sure. My point is that he’s young and has a solid ceiling. People talk like he’s a bust already and that’s nuts.

we’ve also been spoiled by really good and experienced DE’s lately, so the drop off feels significant.

He has my early vote for most improved player next season.

p, learn to “do your job” and don’t always go for the glory. Be a team player. Not Cox in particular but everyone

Any interest in either Coynis Miller from Auburn or Netori Johnson from UGA? Both are 300+ DTs. I remember Miller as a recruit but no idea what he has done at Auburn
