Could hotels be a ventilation thing somehow?

I was listening in on a MN Department of Health & local hospitals Zoom call this morning and the numbers in our state for hospitalizations has decreased a fraction the last 5-7 days (really good news as many hospitals were really struggling). What was said was that the huge increase in hospitalizations seen in mid November was due to Halloween and they are just now finally seeing a drop.

They except somewhat of a 1-2 week leveling off of hospitalizations until they start to see another sharp spike due to Thanksgiving, which would be 2-3 weeks after the holiday. Same thing with Christmas and New Years. The timeline (according to the MN Dept of Health), at least in MN, is hospitalizations spike about 2-3 weeks after the holiday and stay that way for a good 7-14 days. They are also figuring that the Christmas & New Years holidays are going to make things substantially worse than Halloween and Thanksgiving because people will congregate for Christmas and then less than a week later congregate with a totally different group of people for New Years. Lots of possibility for spread.

The good thing that we have going is that the vaccine expects to reach regional "holding" points (not all small hospitals have the extreme cold storage required for the Pfizer vaccine, at least not yet) as soon as a week and for sure by Dec 21. (Vaccines are being sent out before approval so when the approval comes through they can immediately start to be given to frontline healthcare workers and those who are deemed most vulnerable and there isn't more of a lag time due to shipping. Hospitals will potentially already have the vaccine.) Frontline workers should hopefully all get the first shot in the vaccine before the end of the year (at least up here in my area) and long term residents should be getting their first shot in January.

The general population is still looking at Spring for a vaccine.

    So good and bad news...

The initial first wave of the virus didn't really reach up here. It really was like an alternate world we were living in since most cases were in the larger cities in MN. That imo helped fester a lot of the "it's a hoax" claims. It was such a small impact that when our governor shut down restaurants, bars, gyms, hair salons the first time many were extremely angry and were calling for his head. They couldn't understand that just because it hadn't hit small town MN didn't mean it wasn't real. Again, helped contribute to the non-mask compliance and it's no worse than the flu/it's a hoax belief that many have not budged from since then.

Now that's totally changed and WE are the hotspot for spread.

My brother who lives in the Twin Cities came down with the Covid. Fortunately he hasn't got too sick so far, but it looks like it's going to be a zoom holiday season for our family. I saw Pfizer cut way back on delivery of vaccine today so it may be a while before they become available. Wall Street sure reacted, DOW dropped 200+ points in the time it took me to go to the bathroom. Good thing I didn't have a long position with them. Should have shorted it.

Not sure there is much else he can do at this point. There are a large number of people who will not believe anything unless it is spoken by Trump, or one of Trump's allies, scientists with years/decades of experience don't even matter to these people, Biden is their enemy so realistically what can he actually do/say?

Honest question, can Biden come in and do anything that will please Trump & his supporters?

Anything he does is going to be met with protests, uproar and resistance from the "its no worse than the flu"/"It's a hoax"/"you can't make me wear a mask" crowd, which also includes many state representatives and governors.

So serious question, what can he actually do other than recommend mask wearing?

yes, but what is stopping people from doing what he says, there is no law i know of saying he cannot start a plan w/o being potus, unless of course he has no plan and is waiting until after inaugriation to come up with one. all he talked about was saving lives from covid, why wait 2 and a half months to start?

I guess you need a summary. I made 3 main points:

    1) You don't have proof
    2) It's ridiculous to ask people to buy conspiracy theories without proof
    3) Even if it is true, the fact that a business can make money doing something doesn't mean that they will conduct fraud to do it

TRANSLATION: Biden's plan is to do nothing, except continue Trump-era policy, sit back and wait for the vaccine to make its rounds.

The peak in deaths will be 2-3 weeks after the peak in cases. Cases haven't peaked yet.
