It is a real shame in my opinion too. The man was, by all accounts since I do not know him, really brilliant in his field. He also said some things that were not politically motivated or blatant lies and had some common sense to them. Unfortunately, like everyone who hitched their 15 minutes to President Trump, they seemed to abandon their common sense, morals and ethics and turn into a raving idiot...parroting the President, who I am also convinced is mentally deficient at this point.
I am currently living in rural MN. We have had a statewide mask mandate up here for any indoor building since July 25th. I would agree with those posters who said rural communities have almost no compliance, when I did go visit my sister and nephews in early September who live in the Twin Cities I was shocked at how compliance was closer to 90-95%. Up here in rural MN, when I do briefly go into stores (Ace Hardware, Walmart, grocery stores) in the nearest "town" -I live 20 min outside of the nearest town which is roughly 12k people- I would say its incredibly spotty about wearing masks but of those who actually do have one on a good half if not more are wearing them incorrectly. I've seen first hand many people wear a mask into Walmart (its required, there is a security guard posted outside to make sure everyone has one one before they enter) and then as soon as they get their cart and step foot into the store their mask becomes a chin strap. Too many workers also do this. Now going into any small town gas stations and restaurants closer to my house in the middle of rural MN, there is zero mask wearing. I have been in fact the only one (other than an occasional worker) wearing a mask on several occasions. Bars, don't even think about it. Not only was there no mask wearing but there also wasn't any compliance with the being limited to 50% indoor capacity and having to space tables 6 feet apart. On top of that my mom is a VP in a small town hospital up here and she says what they have been fighting is that at work mask compliance is 100% but once these nurses get done with their shifts they were the ones going into the community mask-less. There definitely was and is mask fatigue among small town health care workers. All of these have created the perfect storm in rural MN. About two weeks ago the county I live in and the neighboring county were 2 and 3 for spread rate per population in the entire nation. The entire nation. Little rural MN counties. And yet last week when I stopped to fill my car up with fuel I was still the only one wearing a mask. At this point those who think wearing a mask is harmful, doesn't help, whatever excuse they have aren't ever going to change their opinion. Even when their county shoots up to 2nd in the nation for spread. You have to wear a shirt and shoes to get service. Wearing a mask shouldn't be all that different.
The 7-11 was near DT Fort Myers. In the North Fort Myers Walmart last night I'd guess about 40% were not wearing masks.
Since everyone feels the need to tell anecdotal stories of mask wearing, here in north of Orlando it’s at 95-100% compliance

Not a shock to most people. Drug overdoses killing young people at a much higher rate than Covid. Lockdowns do more damage than doing nothing. When will our leaders learn this. And the average age of those dying "with" Covid is higher than the average age of deaths in a normal year.
And who cares about druggies oding? Personal choice that harms themselves. Covid is not like this at all. Jeesh.
Oh, I see, lets forget about people with mental illness or a drug addiction. Got it. Let them FRY! Good job. I guess if people want to kill themselves we shouldn't get in the way either? Good thought process...
