Steady 30% weekly growth rate, which indicates ~170k tmr, ~200k by next Wed, and 220+k by next Friday.

Opening up will be a good thing. Trump didn't give a damn about that curve and all the suffering and death it will bring. He just wanted economic activity to try and get reelected

It’s been months since Trump attended a coronavirus task force meeting. Pence didn’t attend one for over a month leading up to the election. He’s the head of the bleeping task force.

They quit on the American people. Sad, but unsurprising.

Friday morning update from world o meter as of 8 am EST. I haven't updated my spreadsheet since Monday. So these comments reflect change since Monday.

    • There were only 4 states with a decrease in active cases since Monday; Louisana, Mississippi, North Carolina and I can't remember the fourth but it is after NC alphabetically.
    • There were 3 states with 1- 8 deaths and just 1 state, Vermont with 0 deaths.
    • Louisana leads the nation in recovery rate at 91.8% and the worst state is Maryland at 5.3%. I just don't think they report recovered cases.
    • The death rater per reported case continues to drop and is now down to 2.29%.

They didn’t quit. This is their policy. This is what they and their base wants— rapid spread and herd immunity sooner, to the extent they this would produce herd immunity. Survival of the fittest. No plan for expanded testing (in fact, reducing testing in Florida). No plan for expanding the ability of hospitals and care givers to help the percentage who need care. And, this helped them in the election. They delayed the now apparent significant exponential growth until after the election and nearly 72 million people voted for them. And would vote for them again.

I'm thinking I was a little off in my prediction of 1k total cases a few months ago.

This is an issue. Don't know how significant it is at this point. Most people can't afford to get tested 4 times in one day.

I read this article and did not think that the statistics were nearly as compelling as the headline leads one to believe in some cases, but the work that is going on continues to peel away layers of mystery and move us in the direction of how to treat this disease and protect lives of those infected. I know many people are tired of this virus and our safety precautions, I continue to be stunned at how much we have learned and are learning in such short periods of time.

Good think this virus is a total hoax, because I would be worried about the toll it is about to take on our country.....

Might as well just let her rip at this point. Let people make their own decisions about what risks they want to take and lift all the petty restrictions. We ain’t containing a virus that’s infecting over a million people per week without a vaccine. You can do all the testing and tracing you want. Won’t do a damn thing.

You got the tracking part right. The cows are out of the barn.

    But that's about it.

The only bridge to a vaccine we have is testing and lots of it. Offensive testing. Proactive testing, no more whack a mole reactionary testing. A mole is just popping out of every hole every time. That game is lost, too - just like tracing.
