I guess being asked to wear a mask and washing your hands every now and then is now considered a lockdown. "Don't step on snake"
95 - Any reasonable person would acknowledge fighting the virus has negative consequences in addition to positive. It’s the proportion “more damage than good” that you mistake. The other thing you miss, or ignore, is that even a modified (weakened) effort against the virus would still leave us with a depressing 2020 with other bad outcomes. You’re not dumb. You know these things. Why do you post as if you don’t?
You know, the US technically still has a travel ban in place on travel from Europe by non-US citizens. And the EU still HAS a travel ban in place on most Americans departing the United States. I am not sure why you keep harping on travel bans while most countries, including the US, still maintain them?? When Will We Be Able to Travel to Europe?
We are doing a construction project that involves some equipment from Holland. We have not been able to get their engineers to come over to help with the installation. Maybe end of November we are told.
Members of Pence inside staff tested positive. Pence and his people are still doing campaign fund raising and rallies and flying on the plane to them.
The level of cluelessness from the anti science crowd is astounding. Even the most basic facts are beyond them.
Businesses, schools and such are still on restrictions all across the country. Sure, let’s keep our heads in the sand and ignore the elephant in the room.
Schools should be open everywhere for kids who want to attend In person. There hasn’t been any data saying schools in the US are causing Covid spread. Everyone conveniently doesn’t look at the deaths occurring at home(suicide, overdoses, dementia and Alzheimer’s) that are up significantly. There is zero reason to shut down or keep schools remote learning.
An actual study on the topic of suicides: Suicide Deaths during the Stay-at-Home Advisory in Massachusetts
Mental Health, Substance Use, and Suicidal Ideation During the ... Will the economic and psychological costs of covid-19 increase suicides? COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates suicide risk factors - PAHO/WHO | Pan American Health Organization The Impact Of Covid-19 On Suicide Rates just a few articles highlighting the problem. How’s the sand taste?
I thought you liked data and didn't like the word "may" based on theory. Weird that you changed positions on that when it didn't help your argument. Regardless, I actually provided an empirical study showing the rates, not the theory. There is the possibility that Massachusetts differs from other states or that you might see increases outside the actual lockdown window. But, as of now, this appears to be the best data addressing this specific question.
The data isn’t out yet, but let’s make a bet. I’ll take suicides will be up significantly in 2020(over 25%). You have the under. How about $100 wager. We should get the data around the end of the first quarter 2021. I know your answer already. You are just talking crap.
I’m volunteering next Saturday at a suicide prevention walk for a good friend that is a two time survivor. This is offensive.
I am more than happy to talk to you about the data that I linked at a substantive level. If your goal is just to bluster your way to convince yourself of how brilliant you are, I'll go ahead and pass. BTW, it violates board rules to bet money on the main board. But yeah, I don't bet over people dying. That is a you thing.
Cases are spiking again. No wonder when Trump still holds super spreader events - and the message that sends.
These guys (95 and Buckeye) have treated this stuff like it's football game trash talk from day 1. They were trying to get me to bet that total daily cases would exceed 100k after I mentioned that I could see daily cases getting that high in the next month or 2. I'm not going to bet on something like that. That puts me in the position of hoping for more cases so I can win a bet. Unfortunately, 100k daily cases might happen. Doesn't mean I want it to.
President Trump aide says 'we're not going to control the pandemic' White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, pressed to explain why the pandemic cannot be reined in, said, “Because it is a contagious virus just like the flu.” He told CNN's ”State of the Union" that the government was focused on getting effective therapeutics and vaccines to market.
I lost a loved one to suicide this spring. The lockdown was a main factor. People discounting mental health and the affects of a shutdown and school closures is what’s offensive. Nothing offensive about pointing out the numbers are up significantly. Just pointing out the BS of some posters. Have to call them out.
