So know you are saying because they did a study on a different virus that because Covid is a different virus it doesn’t apply? Yeah, do you even believe the crap you are saying? So funny.

LOL, so Covid virus works different than other viruses for cloth masks. Keep grasping at straws. Keep wearing that useless cloth mask. Proven data must suck for your argument. Oops

Yeah, he is not going to understand. One of the reasons I don’t engage him, useless.
With some people, you can engage them or self pleasure yourself with a cheese grater.
You will be left feeling the same either way.

Ah, the old “I’m right and I don’t care about your facts” routine. Embarrassing.

The paper compared cloth masks to a control group that was utilizing medical masks and respirators as well (likely because of ethical issues). So all that paper actually does is say cloth masks are less effective than a combination of respirators and surgical masks as used by healthcare providers in Vietnam. The authors correct the notion that cloth masks do not provide any protection later.

The authors of the paper also specifically address the differences in context that you are glossing over:

Effectiveness of Cloth Masks for Protection Against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2

So the gist of that is that cloth masks “may” provide some protection if worn properly? “May” is a big word don’t you think?

It is the word scientists use when they haven't specifically studied a specific question. In this case, they did not study the question of whether cloth mask usage is important for the general public to control a pandemic.

I know what I'm saying because as a published researcher and prof who has taught research methods & stats for nearly two decades, this experience helps me quickly spot flawed reasoning, bad research design, and/or misapplication of statistical findings.

I wasn't looking to be argumentative, but with you so quick trigger, it seems almost impossible to avoid. In any case, what I am saying to you is that while the study seems well-designed and beneficial for healthcare workers, it does not apply to non-hospital settings. By design, it cannot. In other words, the findings cannot be generalized outside of hospital settings.

Clothe masks might very well be much more effective in less intense, public settings where both/all/some folks wear masks and are distancing from each other. Different setting, different variables involved means a need for a different study design.

Different setting? Different variables? Come on dude. Keep reaching. Cloth masks flat out didn’t work. It’s ok to admit it. They are basically useless. But you keep making excuse after excuse. It’s most likely why where even with masks mandates that cases are rising. It’s because they don’t work.

Let me make you an offer. Come sit in on my online research methods course where I teach about research design and sampling--indeed to the exact issues I wrote about above. At least then you can make an informed judgment.

Fact is, this is a scientific measurement issue. You either honestly don't understand what this means and why I wrote what I wrote or you are being willfully resistant. I won't speculate on which it is, but I do know as a matter of scientific measurement, you are wrong.

LOL. Funny stuff. Keep making excuses for cloth masks . It’s why cases are rising even in areas where there are mask mandates. The rest of what you said is useless. I produced the data. Sorry it doesn’t fit your narrative.

"Trump said that Xi should go ahead with building the camps, which Trump thought was exactly the right thing to do,"

Trump told China's president that building concentration camps for millions of Uighur Muslims was 'exactly the right thing to do,' former adviser says

Yes, you produced data Unfortunately it does t prove or disprove what you think. I'm afraid you don't understand why.

good try. I hate trump and never said masks don’t work. Said cloth masks don’t work. There are some good online reading comprehension courses available online. Check those out.
