The yankees have a total team salary that approaches four times that of the Rays. So, they don't have a chance... maybe next year the yankees can spend five or six times as much and do better. ;)

Swamp Gas-the only place where you can find a hockey thread that has morphed into a baseball thread during football season. LOL.

One of the best parts of hockey is seeing the team that won the Cup turn into complete animals.

And glad to know that the Rays pitchers got their horse stable shirts ahead of meeting up with da Yanks.

I believe the Stable moniker is going to stick, and, the Rays bullpen will be referred to from here on out with that nickname. Cash definitely has his team's back and is not afraid of the "mighty yankees."

Who woulda thunk it? Florida - rings in hockey and maybe baseball.

Would trade both for another Football, Basketball or Baseball ring (men's)
    or Vollyball (women).

I wish we got over that way more often. Most of our travel is south.
We had really good friends in Statesville for years, but no longer. Such a beautiful part of this state. :)

Rays strike out 18 Yankees to break an all time record against the bombers and also set the 9 inning playoff record. HUGE game 3 tonight. Rays still have a chance to avoid Cole in game 5.

    Tampa
Another outstanding effort by the good guys tonight in game three. This is a wonderful team to watch play baseball. I would REALLY like to see Tampa put this series away tomorrow, so that there is no need to worry about seeing Cole in game five.

    GO RAYS!!! ⚾⚾⚾⚾

This is what the Rays do, and until they (hopefully) secure a stadium deal it is what they will do.
Find rough diamonds, and polish them. Locking in
Brandon Lowe so young for several years is huge too.

And all this Charlie Morton retirement talk seems odd to me. He gets better with age. His outing last night was huge.

I was upset when they traded Pham. Randy has turned out to be a welcome replacement. I'm still not sold on Renfroe.

I said Tuesday CFM needed to go 5, and he did. Definitely his best outing of the year. Hopefully he has another season in the tank.

Not a Pham fan at all after his words last season. He wanted out. When Pham started ripping the fans and saying that he thanked "himself" for his play last season because he had no dad, he turned me off. He never mentioned his teammates. He never mentioned coaches. He was completely ignorant of the stadium situation and Stu's fumbling of the stadium situation and attacked his fanbase.

Dude is not a great clubhouse guy and really turned on the community.

I find it a bit fitting that while the Padres will likely lose to LAD, that the Rays have NYY on the brink and could win the pennant in Pham's stadium.

Agree about CFM though. What I saw last night in a clutch situation was a guy that still has Cy Young stuff when the chips are on the table.

Eh, I think we will have to agree to disagree on Pham. Guy went through some stuff as a child. Many go through the same, he was trying to provide encouragement for those in the same situation. I think you have to look at it through his experience.

Wasn't aware of the bad clubhouse stuff, always seemed like the guys liked him -- he is just more the introverted type.

As for the stadium comments - they don't really upset me, but I do agree that is on Stu. He sucks. But I wouldn't take that as fam turning on the community.

Agree that we need to put it away tonight. Really want to send NY packing. As far as Cole, he's definitely their best, but, starters coming back on short rest don't always fare so well.

Man, I couldn't agree more about Pham. He is one of the game's natural hitters, but, he carries a lot of baggage. He's an angry person who can infect a locker room. Even though his trade replacement (Renfroe) has not fared as well between the lines this year, I'm glad Pham is gone. The Rays front office doesn't put up with that kind of attitude for long. Bashing your fans and not thanking the guys that brought you to the dance are like biting the hand that feeds you.

Would have preferred a Rays only thread. Ignored this thread till now cause I have no interest in hockey. Not even sure why it's in this forum, but not my call of course.

On to game 5 for the Rays, winner take all.

I guess the Heat get no love around here, but tomorrow is win or go home. As the 5th seed in the East, Miami has had a phenomenal season. Several good young players to build around for the future.

I am a fan of both teams and start this thread whenever one is in the playoffs. This was a unique year and both runs were occurring simultaneously due to hockey's delay. It is actually historical in reality. I do it here because no one looks at the baseball forum compared to this, and we have no hockey forum. I combined them because I did not want two OT threads on the football board. As you may have noticed, most of us commenting here are fans of both teams and have enjoyed the overall Tampa sports conversation. Oh and I am a Magic fan, so no love for the Heat. ;)...and NBN gets a lot more traffic so a basketball thread there makes more sense than a baseball thread on the baseball board.
