another brilliant rational thought. why do some people insist on pretending that the world is black and white? Must be a miserable experience to not be able to see color

You're going to need to be more specific duchen. You and others have made that claim so many times it's unclear what you are referring to.

It really doesn't suck for them anymore, they've gotten quite used to it.

Does it not bother you that there are so many failures that you have to ask others to be more specific? 200,000 dead Americans, many prematurely, because of his incompetence... and he ain't done killing yet.

I guess some folks are totally cool with lying, cheating and stealing so long as it's done bigly and yugely.

You seem pretty entrenched in your opinion, but in case you are interested, here is an analysis from Andrew Gelman, perhaps the world’s leading statistician, arguing that people often confuse distributional forecasts for point forecasts.

I don’t know about other people but a lot of my friends and I can’t understand why people have this crazy focus on making every decision as if Covid deaths are the only thing that matters. There are 2.8 million deaths a year in the US and some of the decisions that have been made have for sure cost lives because we shut down.

Justin Lessler is with Johns Hopkins University. At the end of August he tweeted that there were about 200,000 excess deaths in 2020.
For me, that's the best way to do a check on the reported Covid 19 deaths. The number of deaths above the norm is more or less in line with the number of deaths reported to be attributed to Covid 19.

You can argue at the margins, but the reporting of medical professionals has us around 200,000 and the analysis of excess deaths has us in the same area. Those 200,000 dead Americans represent a greater percentage of our population than all but a handful of countries in the world.

I think most of the folks on the board believe in the capacity of the American people and American industry. We ought to have better than average results given our wealth, our resources, our technical ability. Instead we are down in the bottom 10% in helping our citizens survive this pandemic. That's a leadership problem, period.

Indeed. There are a lot of other costs associated with this pandemic.

Much of them including the needlessly high death toll would have been significantly reduced if we took effective steps back in January when the President knew this was a serious, deadly disease, but refused to take any steps to address it (testing, contact tracing, blocking/quarantining travel of people from infected areas, promoting use of masks and social distancing).

This President intentionally put the country at greater risk for perceived personal gain. He not only did that but he intentionally created a divisive political issue out of simply behaving appropriately to protect public health (using masks and social distancing). That is truly sick behavior. And his standard operating procedure.

But back to the main point in the post you responded to... there are very serious health impacts to and as yet unknown percentage of COVID survivors, and we don't appear to be even talking about assessing or addressing those impacts.

Worse yet, those people are very likely to become uninsured after the stacked USSC hears the ACA case starting Nov 10th. An early Christmas "gift" from the President.

You guys are seriously blocking/ignoring people who think different than you now?
How dare he actually speak his opinion on a message board.
How many more are you going to run off before it's just your opinion?

    All of this.

    But "We're number one!".

Number one in COVID cases. Number one in COVID deaths.

    An A+ job, Mr President.

This is what drives me crazy about the left sometimes. Even when someone on the right admits the failures of Trump, it is not good enough. Calling a person that I voted for a failure is not "sugarcoating" anything.

Wait...kids can spread it? I had no idea!!! (shock...gasp...no way?!)

They can spread all sorts of deadly things. We have to weigh it depending on location.

But I am more stuck on how in the world did you make the leap to me being "OK with" the POTUS. I literally called him a failure. I mean some of you guys want a fight so bad, you even pick them when someone takes your side. Is it because you have blocked/ignored the folks that actually disagree with you and you have run out of people to fight with? I mean what the actual crap?
