Rally was outside. In Sturgis, people went to bars and restaurants too.

Locking down now has major impact on Israel with the month of Tishrei holidays coming. Especially Sukkot in 3 weeks because people travel there for the holiday.

Minnesota's broad COVID-19 testing under microscope

Nothing like having half of the PCR positives under 30ct. This is like FSU saying 80,000 people are in the stands when only 40k showed up. Wonder what the “real” amount of Covid cases are in the US, especially if a lot of states are using these parameters.

The tests aren't defined to identify who is contagious, just who has the virus. By the time they get the results back the body typically has generated much more virus unless they are on the backside of the peak of the viral load. These are just more strawman distractions trying to confuse the issue

What’s the point of knowing who has a virus that does nothing? The point should be to find out who is contagious and who isn’t. That’s the issue. Other than trying to scare people I don’t know why it’s an issue. Wonder how many people get the flu that don’t show symptoms or are contagious? Who cares right? I sure don’t.

Of course it would be ideal to have better tests able to parse this out with accuracy and with speed, but we do not. We are barely able to keep up with the "positive vs. negative" on an accurate and timely basis.

Plus as someone else pointed out, even if we could get who was "contagious" in real time, you may be giving a false sense of security if that person was simply not YET contagious at the time of their test result. This concept really only works for people who are confirmed on the downside of their recovery, or maybe who keep giving positive results weeks later (plenty of documented cases of that). So a "positive but not contagious" result would be of some interest to them, perhaps.

Disagree. If they tested and counted the amount of virus that is actually transmittable then they could retest who is actually sick and contagious as opposed to counting people who aren’t contagious at all. It’s a waste of time and effort and casuals huge delays because the non contagious people are getting retested over and over again.

Per the article you linked, they are dying because family couldn't visit or they couldn't get enough care. And why can't family visit or care is limited? Could it be due to the high rate of community spread? And why is the community spread so bad? These are indirect deaths caused by covid that wouldn't occur if covid is under control so although they are indirect they are caused by covid

Because if you have the virus it is likely that you will become contagious. This isn't that hard to follow. Monday test, low viral load, virus continues to multiply in your body, Friday/Saturday viral load has increased to point you are contagious and by then you have results. Viral load, ie amount to be contagious, is not a static situation. Just because Joe isn't contagious on Monday doesn't mean Joe won't be contagious Friday

It is actually not likely that you will be contagious with the virus. Most people who tested positive never had a viral load to pass it on. But keep on thinking that.

Curious, this is an extremely contagious virus but you just stated "it is actually not likely that you will be contagious. Most people that test positive never had a viral load to pass on" How is it contagious then?

So then your thinking is most of the US already has had it? If it’s as contagious as you say then it would’ve spread thru most of the US by now. I guess we can relax since we have reached herd immunity. Thanks for letting me know.
