They aren’t closing schools or shutting down everything. That’s the point. Have to learn to live with this virus until a vaccine/herd immunity.
Why did they stop contact tracing? If numbers went up after they stopped it would suggest it was effective, wouldn’t it? Isn’t contact tracing typically implemented after lock downs are lifted and numbers are manageable? No one said we’re going to go back to a lock down, I think we all agree that ship has sailed. Unfortunately we never got our numbers manageable or anywhere near Europe’s levels, even what they consider a resurgence would be great for us.
From your link: "Simply existing in a country where the virus is suppressed but circulating is not so risky. It depends on age, gender, geography, behaviour and much else.” If only we lived in such a country... also, I’m a little confused on how he comes to the conclusion that 1 person in 100 dies then extrapolates that to a 1 in 2 million chance of dying. Also, he’s an economist, so using the term “Expert” is pretty generous since he’s playing epidemiologist for this article.
Come on, you knew the linked article was going to be bullshit. I learned awhile back when I clicked on a few of his links, never adds value.
France Leads Europe’s Coronavirus Surge Just as Schools Reopen Wonder if EU will catch the same heat Trump did for claiming numbers are up because testing was up? Hmmm.
Didn’t see this article or any similar posted but my apologies if it already was. I initially saw something similar in a German newspaper but this is easier for everyone to read. Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be.
They will shut down in phases. If closing bars, gyms, nightclubs doesn't work then I suspect schools will be next
Don’t think so. People are realizing who this really affects and who it doesn’t affect. I mean 40% of US deaths are from nursing homes who only make up .6% of our population. We knew from before it hit the US that Covid hits the elderly more severely. If we had focused our efforts on just that our results would be drastically different. And that falls squarely on the Trump Admin, the CDC and The WHO.
I thought that the rules required a link to a source, not just somebody tweeting something that may or not be factual with no way to check it
That rule is for starting racial and violence threads. H. Race and violence threads are not allowed on Too Hot unless it is a story that is being covered in the “mainstream media”. That would be by “ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, National Radio (not Limbaugh, Stern or other shock jocks or political commentators (unless appearing on MSM)) This would also apply to nationalities, religions, sexual orientations, LEOs and widely accepted professional and social organizations.
Without a sourced link the twits personal opinion is worthless even if he put it in a chart and says it's true
call it what You want, but the data is unsourced, and conveniently quotes what, 17 schools out of the 5000 in the US. Wonder why? I am not going to waste my time finding hospitalized college kids because even if I did the number would be low, but tweets like that are clearly and purposely misleading. Allow them if you want, but it isn’t any different than the blocks you have on hyper partisan sites here. I mean the tweet originated with a guy whose tag line under his name is “author of The Legacy of Jihad, The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism, Sharia Versus Freedom.”. It doesn’t facilitate discussion, it is opinion masquerading as science. Glad that thread got moved out of the den.
I think tweets that contain data that cannot be sourced or credited to a reputable reporter just propagates misinformation and that isn't good.
This whole site is based on people expressing their opinions, just because you don't agree with them doesn't make their opinions unworthy of being posted.
