Pulpit rock was where the climactic scene of Mission Impossible fallout was filmed.

    will go there one day.

If things don't go crazy tomorrow, we might have set a new low on the death rate when I publish the stats on monday.

How many people did those 1100 infect? How many of them died or went to hospital?

I don’t know, why don’t you call all 11,000 and ask them who they infected. Sounds like a good plan. Get back to me with the results.

You mean contact tracing? You do know that other countries that have successfully controlled the virus and reopened earlier and more successfully than us do exactly what you’re mocking, right?

Good luck contact tracing a college kid. Let me know how that goes. If you want to live in fantasy land, be my guest.

So you agree that you have no idea how many have been infected or hospitalized or killed by those 11000. Do you care ? And we have no idea as to the legitamacy of the source of that info to begin with

I care that the students are much safer all in one place and not living at home. You have no idea if anyone died or is hospitalized as a result of college kids at this point. You can speculate, but that’s all it is. I hope if a student is Covid positive that they isolate and socially distanced and wear a mask. It what you are saying is a pipe dream.

The numbers from that wedding reception have almost tripled. We were in Millinocket a couple of years ago. It's a pretty small town that's on hard times after factories and mills closed. But it's trying to reinvent itself as an outdoors gateway to Baxter State Park and Appalachian Trail.

Maine cases of Covid-19 linked to a wedding reception hit 147, with 3 deaths - CNN

There are definitely colleges that have had students hospitalized (that is why Missouri State is listed on there but not Missouri, for example). Two other important pieces of context: 1. Many of those people were diagnosed in the last week and are unlikely to have hit a stage in which they could be hospitalized. 2. Many schools are essentially running medical facilities in isolation dorms, so short of ICU or some other specialized care, they really don't need to send students to the hospital. The issue is that the exponential growth on campus is starting to fill those facilities fast. We will see if they can avoid filling in the next 2-3 weeks. If they do, then schools can probably limit the strain put on local healthcare systems (other than the need for staff and PPE at their makeshift medical facilities).

Man, no need to be so grumpy. I actually agree with you on this, just pointing out that you’re pie in the sky “fantasy” is the reality in the majority of the world. Now, our opinions on why it won’t work may differ. I don’t think it will because Americans are too selfish, stupid, and inconsiderate to willingly sign up for it, they’ve already proven it by the push back on the masks. The rest of the world however would tell you that calling all of those people is very realistic.

Europe has stopped contract tracing in many countries and are dealing with rising numbers of cases. They will not lock down again because that won’t work unless you are prepared to be locked down until there is a vaccine.

Highly recommend the guided hike and tour company linked upthread
Europe is currently reinstating restrictions. It will continue to impose more restrictions if the virus starts to spread further.
