uhmm,,china..cough cough...even with their underreporting has tamed the virus. EU combined is bigger than US, more densely populated than US and has done much better. Hong Kong, Singapore, SK all close and much more densely populated. much better outcomes. Our contemporaries in outcome are Brazil, Mexico, India, S. Africa. This is how far we have fallen under this leadership.
Your ok with stuffing people in buildings and literally welding the doors shut? I’m sure we could reduce covid if our gov implemented similar measures.
Can't add the EU as a group, but can include the rest of the top 10 countries by population. I infer that the failed responses below are more an indictment of inactive leadership than population. @buckeyegator's land mass assertion makes little sense as contagions thrive on population density, not the contrary.
I would blame it on culture instead of leadership. It’s not like the people disregarding social distancing and mask wearing would have adhered to all safety protocols if only Hillary were telling them too. We enjoy a great amount of freedom and don’t appreciate heavy handed government control. And no. It’s not just southern republicans who feel this way. It’s bizarre to me how people just refuse to accept this. No doubt the shutdown would have been longer and more expensive under a democratic president, but it would have just delayed the inevitable.
Yeah, China has taken some extreme measures to eliminate a lot of things. We have to stop using them as a reference.
Hard to say, but great leaders can get people to follow them. And self-sacrifice for the greater good is not new for this country. We'll never know if Hillary would have successfully used the Playbook and if it would have made a significant difference. We do know that it would be harder to get any worse than the results we have with Trump in charge.
More than just one; my regular doctor, my cardiologist, my neurologist, and my cousin who's an anesthesiologist. His issues are no less significant, but those details are his business.
She's not POTUS. What if our current president told them to? I bet we'd look a lot better in that graph.
I disagree. I think NY is a fine example of Americans responding to the dire situation. I assert that we would have fared much better with leadership that didn't deny, blame, misinform and deploy magical thinking. I think we would have fared better if our leadership didn't ditch the Playbook for Early Response to High-Consequence Emerging Infectious Disease Threats and Biological Incidents. I think we would have fared better if the challenges and goals were clearly articulated from the very beginning.
"In July, the CDC estimated that around 40% of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 are asymptomatic, and a number of other studies have confirmed this number. However, in places where everyone wears masks, the rate of asymptomatic infection seems to be much higher. In an outbreak on an Australian cruise ship called the Greg Mortimer in late March, the passengers were all given surgical masks and the staff was given N95 masks after the first case of Covid-19 was identified. Mask usage was apparently very high, and even though 128 of the 217 passengers and staff eventually tested positive for the coronavirus, 81% of the infected people remained asymptomatic. Further evidence has come from two more recent outbreaks, the first at a seafood processing plant in Oregon and the second at a chicken processing plant in Arkansas. In both places, the workers were provided masks and required to wear them at all times. In the outbreaks from both plants, nearly 95% of infected people were asymptomatic." Mask wearers are “dramatically less likely” to get a severe case of Covid-19
Barcelona music hall, the stained glass and wood was amazing, especially the inverted stain glass ceiling. great pipe organ too
So as a crew of 3 on my truck I was asymptomatic but the other 2 were very symptomatic. I somewhat isolated myself from them because I was on a 36 hour stretch and tired. They did a workout together while on duty and I rested. We wore masks on calls. I surmised that I probably had a lesser viral load although I have no facts or evidence to back that up or suggest that was even a possibility. Interesting reading this after the fact.
