And, the reason I despise some on the right for their warped twisting of the truth is because they will take from the link I posted what you wrote. Your post is absolute nonsense because you ignore the better information Trump had, and ignored from his intelligence community.

I really should have posted content from the links to avoid the kind of response I got from you, so my mistake.

To make it very clear the conduct you are defensing, here are 4 paragraphs from Foreign Policy, a conservative foreign policy magazine describing the conduct by Trump you find excusable:

Take Trump’s approach to Xi in early 2020, as the coronavirus was ravaging the central Chinese city of Wuhan and starting to spread beyond the country’s borders. During all that time, Trump was consistently fawning over the Chinese leader. By one count, Trump publicly praised Xi—including his supposed transparency—15 times between January and March, even as the U.S. intelligence community and his own White House advisors were sounding dire warnings about the impending pandemic and China’s handling of it
    .

It has since become clear that Trump’s words were less about Xi’s coronavirus response—which Trump started to criticize only later—than about his interest in avoiding any risk to the so-called phase-one trade deal with China, which was signed on Jan. 15 and implemented in mid-February. Trump made little attempt to disguise where he put his priorities. In late January, for example, when asked about concerns with China’s transparency regarding the rapidly spreading virus, Trump said he trusted Xi, touted their relationship, and immediately pivoted to describing “probably the biggest deal ever made.” The following month, after the outlines of China’s cover-up had emerged, Trump betrayed a similar state of mind when asked about Beijing’s response: “We really don’t know. … [But] we’re working together on a lot of different things, including trade. … They’ll be spending $250 billion. … We have a great trade deal.”

Once again, we have seen that this is a president who does not hesitate to place his own interests ahead of the national interest—in public health or national security—when they diverge. Let’s not forget another prominent example: his willingness to mortgage U.S. national security in return for manufactured dirt on his domestic political opponent, a lurid tale exposed on national television over the course of weeks. We haven’t yet had televised hearings, but in the case of China, Trump’s motivations have been on display more clearly than ever before, as much of the nation watched him obsequiously praise Beijing rather than prioritize the public health of the American people. In another turn that seems erratic only on the surface, Trump’s new efforts to deflect blame for the coronavirus pandemic onto Beijing, the World Health Organization, and other scapegoats suggests he very well recognizes the political peril he now faces.

For all this, Trump has so far escaped accountability. That will have to change—otherwise, he is certain to place his own political interests ahead of those of the United States and its people.
    ============================
And, from the link concerning the intelligence briefings, here is what Trump was told before Trump lied to us about Xi and the dangers of the virus:

The Jan. 23 session was the first time the intelligence community briefed the president on the coronavirus, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the classified briefings.

The next time intelligence officials spoke to Trump on the topic was Jan. 28, when he received information showing that the virus was spreading outside China but that all deaths remained inside that country, the official said. Trump was also told at the time that China wasn't sharing key data about the virus, according to the official.

The White House official said those were the only times Trump was briefed by the intelligence community about the virus during January. It isn't clear what information the intelligence community said China was withholding, or if Trump was briefed about the incredible strain a major outbreak in the U.S. could place on the health-care system, the economy and Americans' way of life.

U.S. intelligence agencies included warnings about the virus in more than a dozen classified briefings prepared for Trump in January and February, The Washington Post reported on April 27, citing current and former U.S. officials.

    ====================

What did you expect the media to report when Trump was sitting on the intel?

And, in the next post is @GatorGuyDallas' timeline from April. Because facts are facts, no matter how hard Trump's supporters try to re-write them. And we didn't know the information about the IC briefings when GGD posted them.

So, when you overlay the headlines with the lies Trump as telling, it is no wonder the media underplayed the virus.

But then, sycophants will pick and choose what they want to defend Trump, and ignore what he knew, when he knew it, and what he released.

And he does it because the lies work.

Please excuse me if I get this wrong, but you're telling me that according to the CDC paper, if your child is unfortunate enough to catch the virus in the first place, they then have a 0.008% chance of being hospitalized by it?

Scientists are now saying that many people that have a mild reaction to Covid-19 have had some exposure to a coronavirus in the past. While the antibodies may go away with time, the T-cells (the second line of defense) may have a longer memory.

Why does COVID-19 strike some and not others? Fauci sees an answer in new study

What I am not understanding is why haven't we made a supreme effort to create testing that is accurate, plentiful and affordable with quick results.
Where an aquantence works, it is taking from 3 days to 25 days just to get a test result back. They have a lot of covid cases.

Here is the post I know you all have been waiting for this morning.
Updated stats from world o meter as of 8 am EDT. There were 21 states with a decrease in active cases and for the second time that I have noticed, the number of active cases decreased from the day before. There were 8 states with just 1-2 deaths and 9 states with 0 deaths.

The death rate per reported case did drop fractionally but when the number is rounded off it was unchanged.

Can you take a min and understand what you are even posting??

He was briefed twice... two times at the very end of Jan. What we do know is by Jan 28th we started to believe China was lying about it and it was spreading outside China but that only deaths were there.

Now if we find out that he was told much more in some Feb briefings, I’ll obviously change my mind. But for now, there is no indication from anyone that he or his staff knew the virus was much worse.
All the articles on this matter are from May. It’s easy for journalists or “experts” to criticize Trump AFTER it all got bad.

Here is one of the earliest articles with expert opinions
Wuhan Coronavirus Looks Increasingly Like a Pandemic, Experts Say

nothing about what it might do to the US. In fact this is in the article:

The effects of a pandemic would probably be harsher in some countries than in others. While the United States and other wealthy countries may be able to detect and quarantine the first carriers, countries with fragile health care systems will not. The virus has already reached Cambodia, India, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippinesand rural Russia.

Real death count due to Coronavirus likely over 200 thousand through July 25th. Probably higher still when you include offset due to decrease in vehicle deaths.

Linked article shows increase in deaths over normal by state, and you can see that it is directly related to coronavirus case loads in each state.

1,499 deaths yesterday. Over 1,000 a day for 17 straight days. If 1,000 a day holds the US would have another 135,000 by the end of the year.
    That's 300,000.

Odd these stats just keep piling up in a situation that is just supposed to "go away". 300,000 - 5X more than Vietnam. Vietnam was a 10 year fiasco, our current fiasco is only what, 5 months old?

But lets saddle up and go to Sturgis, we can all hit the beer keg together.

Sorry, but any article that blames excess deaths on Covid without acknowledging the issue of elderly not being able to see their doctors on a regular basis clearly has an agenda. My mom hasn't been to her cardiologist or pulmonologist since February. She has COPD and CHF. They will only see someone if it's an emergency, which is usually too late. Here is a NYT article about it. Maybe they should've checked their archives LOL.
