I really should have posted content from the links to avoid the kind of response I got from you, so my mistake.

To make it very clear the conduct you are defensing, here are 4 paragraphs from Foreign Policy, a conservative foreign policy magazine describing the conduct by Trump you find excusable:

During all that time, Trump was consistently fawning over the Chinese leader. Once again, we have seen that this is a president who does not hesitate to place his own interests ahead of the national interest—in public health or national security—when they diverge. Let’s not forget another prominent example: his willingness to mortgage U.S. national security in return for manufactured dirt on his domestic political opponent, a lurid tale exposed on national television over the course of weeks. We haven’t yet had televised hearings, but in the case of China, Trump’s motivations have been on display more clearly than ever before, as much of the nation watched him obsequiously praise Beijing rather than prioritize the public health of the American people. In another turn that seems erratic only on the surface, Trump’s new efforts to deflect blame for the coronavirus pandemic onto Beijing, the World Health Organization, and other scapegoats suggests he very well recognizes the political peril he now faces.

For all this, Trump has so far escaped accountability. That will have to change—otherwise, he is certain to place his own political interests ahead of those of the United States and its people.

The next time intelligence officials spoke to Trump on the topic was Jan. 28, when he received information showing that the virus was spreading outside China but that all deaths remained inside that country, the official said. Trump was also told at the time that China wasn't sharing key data about the virus, according to the official.

The White House official said those were the only times Trump was briefed by the intelligence community about the virus during January. It isn't clear what information the intelligence community said China was withholding, or if Trump was briefed about the incredible strain a major outbreak in the U.S. could place on the health-care system, the economy and Americans' way of life.

U.S. intelligence agencies included warnings about the virus in more than a dozen classified briefings prepared for Trump in January and February, The Washington Post reported on April 27, citing current and former U.S. officials.

What I am not understanding is why haven't we made a supreme effort to create testing that is accurate, plentiful and affordable with quick results.
Where an aquantence works, it is taking from 3 days to 25 days just to get a test result back. They have a lot of covid cases.

He was briefed twice... two times at the very end of Jan. What we do know is by Jan 28th we started to believe China was lying about it and it was spreading outside China but that only deaths were there.

Now if we find out that he was told much more in some Feb briefings, I’ll obviously change my mind. But for now, there is no indication from anyone that he or his staff knew the virus was much worse.
All the articles on this matter are from May. It’s easy for journalists or “experts” to criticize Trump AFTER it all got bad.

1,499 deaths yesterday. Over 1,000 a day for 17 straight days. If 1,000 a day holds the US would have another 135,000 by the end of the year.
That's 300,000.

Odd these stats just keep piling up in a situation that is just supposed to "go away". 300,000 - 5X more than Vietnam. Vietnam was a 10 year fiasco, our current fiasco is only what, 5 months old?

Sorry, but any article that blames excess deaths on Covid without acknowledging the issue of elderly not being able to see their doctors on a regular basis clearly has an agenda. My mom hasn't been to her cardiologist or pulmonologist since February. She has COPD and CHF. They will only see someone if it's an emergency, which is usually too late. Here is a NYT article about it. Maybe they should've checked their archives LOL.
