You are missing the point. So few kids are dying from Covid around the world, not just the US. Lots of good info in this article. Why It’s (Mostly) Safe to Reopen the Schools
Behind a firewall. I know that younger kids are less likely to spread. I also know they carry high enough viral load to be infectious so the two don't add up. Opined elsewhere that if asymptomatic and breathing regularly at 3' off the ground perhaps gravity has something to do with younger kids not infecting others but not sure. YMCA proved that kids infect each other.
Well, in the article it states that in France: “France announced its reopening plans on April 21, three weeks after its new cases peaked, and opened schools gradually over the course of May and June, with mask requirements for high-school students but not younger children. Attendance was voluntary. A study by researchers at Institut Pasteur of students ages 6–11 found that “there was no evidence of onwards transmission from children in the school setting.” It also has data from every European country that has opened schools back up. Some with lower and some with higher death rates than the US.
found the study. How anybody can draw any conclusions from such a limited study with so few "suspected" cases among the students is beyond me 510 kids, 3 suspected covid cases, done in February when virus was just starting. Don't see how that relates to what the US is going through right now. Only discusses transmission from students to teachers and only 3 suspected cases among the kids COVID-19 in primary schools: no significant transmission among children or from students to teachers 510 students from six primary schools were included in the study. There were three probable cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection in three different schools before the schools closed for the February vacation and then for the lockdown in Crépy-en-Valois. These cases did not give rise to secondary cases among other school students or teaching staff. School Children Don’t Spread Coronavirus, French Study Shows School kids don’t appear to transmit the new coronavirus to peers or teachers, a French study found, weighing in on the crucial topic of children’s role in propagating Covid-19. Scientists at Institut Pasteur studied 1,340 people in Crepy-en-Valois, a town northeast of Paris that suffered an outbreak in February and March, including 510 students from six primary schools. They found three probable cases among kids that didn’t lead to more infections among other pupils or teachers.
I guess every European study that shows kids going back to school doesn’t increase Covid isn’t good enough for you. It is for me.
it was one study, with three "suspected" cases that concluded that kids did not transmit to adults. they did not even have confirmation that the 3 kids were infected. you are looking for confirmation, not real information
No, I’m looking for facts. Fact is Europe opened up their schools and didn’t have outbreaks from students. You are the one looking for reasons to keep schools closed. It’s ok. The first step is admitting it. Gets easier after that.
Personally, I utilize the detailed cogent National plan that provides an excellent framework for states and communities to build upon, and have a unified economic plan as well as specific guidelines for opening schools, and businesses, to make the critical life-choices needed to master these stressful times. At least I wish.
When the US gets the outbreak under control and we have driven the numbers down to the point of most European countries, we can talk about re-opening schools and have a reasonable comparison to the outcomes in other countries. Maybe because every European and most Asian countries have been completely destroyed by war in the past 100 years and those people understand true deprivation and consequently how to demonstrate self-discipline for the common good. The US is too filled with selfish, ignorant fools to be able to compare our countries results to any other country. But, here is a stat for you: United States = 5% of the world's population United States = 25+% of the world's infections Ignorant.
As an update to this story. These two students were suspended and the Principal threatened anybody that criticized the school on social media. That suspension was lifted on Friday. Paulding lifts suspensions of two students after viral photos North Paulding High School now has an outbreak. 6 students and 3 staff tested positive already in the first week. 9 cases of COVID-19 reported at North Paulding High School
Here’s a stat for you: Per @cdcgov : Since Feb. 1, 45 American kids under 15 have died of #Covid. 13,088 have died of all other causes. That’s .00344 if you are keeping score at home. Obtuse.
And here is a part of the problem. The parents blaming the school for not encouraging the boys to wear masks. Where are the parents responsibilities in educating their children?
If the school says to wear masks, then wear masks or don’t come to school. It’s that simple. Parents are for sure a major issue in this situation.
Everybody's looking to the POTUS and Governor Dip$#!+ for leadership up there in Georgia; freaking media having to try and fill in all the enormous gaps in information, while simultaneously having to fact-check all of it to avoid endangering more Americans.
given that the thread is 850 pages, just curious what you thought the odds would be that all of these items was already covered?
