    And Israeli schools.
Israeli Data Show School Openings Were a Disaster That Wiped Out Lockdown Gains.
Israel's hurried school reopenings serve as a cautionary tale

That's awesome, but look at how many people you came into contact with on the flight, at the airport, grocery store, cab ride etc. So how's that safe since you guys didn't get tested after all that? That's right it isn't and it's selfish act from you and your little get together. That's how you act to others, kind of pathetic isn't.

On a serious side I'm extremely happy for you, your wife and friends to be able to get a break and enjoy each others company. Looks like fun

I thought someone linked an article showing that Sweden showed little to no spread because they didn’t record data.

So @gator95 , since you put so much trust and support in the CDC’s statements at this time, I assume you’ll have no problem if or when they change their recommendations if new studies and science become available?

Sweden did not keep adequate data and its data is not peer reviewed. So, absent testing of asymptomatic kids, you don’t know of they were infected or spread the virus to adults. And Sweeden compared themselves to Finland. And more. And the data shows kids got the virus. And the data is contrary to experiences in schools on Israel, US camps which became clusters, and virology. The virus passed by aerosolized transmission. It makes no sense kids would not pass it to adults or other kids. There is a real danger relying on a narrow data set like this. But, it doesn’t matter to that poster. He doesn’t understand science, statistics, variables, confounding factors, peer review, meta analysis and the like. He seizes on a set of facts and those facts become unshakable truth even in the face of contrary evidence and no matter the weight of the evidence.
Sweden kept its country relatively open during the coronavirus pandemic, but its elderly paid a price

I just posted multiple facts from all over the world. Not self selected and unreliable anecdotal evidence.

As soon as everyone here gets in line and supports going back to school like the CDC says...

Yes, I’m not like some on here. If the facts change then yes. South Florida should open remotely only for school. But just about every other district should open in Florida.

I posted CDC and doctors. You are posting anecdotal cases. I’ll go with the CDC and doctors. Good try though.

Here's what the actual CDC says:

Computer simulations from Europe have suggested that schools reopening may further increase spread in communities where transmission is already high.4 As schools reopen, more will be learned about the feasibility and effectiveness of mitigation strategies such as wearing cloth face coverings and keeping people 6 feet apart through social distancing.
It's more than just computer simulations, and more than just areas of high transmission, as shown by the actual results in Israel. They had low transmission rates of less than 50 positive tests a day. Open school, and a month later, they were having more than 1,500 positive tests a day.

The CDC is also admitting they don't have adequate to say anything definitively about what will happen when you put 20-30 students in a classroom together to say it won't spread the disease, even with social distancing and mask wearing. So if you put your child back in the classroom, you are using them as a guinea pig in the hopes that the computer models, and experience of an entire country, Israel, are wrong. To me, that's a big no.

And even if this doesn't bother you and you think recent outbreaks in Israeli schools or school-age camps will mean your school will be spared, if you are wrong, the reopening of schools will mean higher rate of community spread for the area you live in. Kids, teachers, and staff will take the virus home with them and infect the people they live with. They will all take the virus to other places they visit, like the grocery story, and risk others with infection. And despite better treatment of COVID, the reality is, the more who get infected, the more who will die.

I guess you missed this part of the CDC recommendation...

“As families and policymakers make decisions about their children returning to school, it is important to consider the full spectrum of benefits and risks of both in-person and virtual learning options. Parents are understandably concerned about the safety of their children at school in the wake of COVID-19. The best available evidence indicates if children become infected, they are far less likely to suffer severe symptoms.[1],[2],[3] Death rates among school-aged children are much lower than among adults. At the same time, the harms attributed to closed schools on the social, emotional, and behavioral health, economic well-being, and academic achievement of children, in both the short- and long-term, are well-known and significant. Further, the lack of in-person educational options disproportionately harms low-income and minority children and those living with disabilities. These students are far less likely to have access to private instruction and care and far more likely to rely on key school-supported resources like food programs, special education services, counseling, and after-school programs to meet basic developmental needs.“

Kids need to go to school and they are much less likely to both get Covid and pass it on to others. And 60,000+ pediatricians agree also. I’ll go with them over you and the other internet genius’s.

You don’t even know what anecdotal means. You have no understanding of numbers or statistics and no matter how many times it is explained to you, you refuse to grasp it or respond with your usual snarky comment. And the CDC has now been utterly compromised by Trump. After Trump pushed to open schools, what do you think the CDC was going to say? Little that comes out of this administration is trustworthy. Your claim that there is no evidence that children catch or pass the virus has now been utterly refuted. And you don’t respond to the examples. Just quote the unreliable Swedish claim, which lacks data and has not been replicated. Just understand the danger to the kids, teachers and their parents. And, when the disease spreads, we will remind you. Just like your comments two weeks after the reopenings proved wrong. Remember those? All those claims that cases hadn’t gone up?

Look at you using those vulgar words. So who are you calling a kitty kat?
I see a lot of those who claim others are racist , but full short of providing proof.

I stopped reading after you the first sentence. I don’t bother to read drivel from people who won’t listen to 60,000 doctors and the CDC. Good luck staying locked away until there’s a vaccine. I’ll be dropping my kids off to school in 2 weeks.

And I guess teacher and staff, whom are all adults, don't matter in the equation? Neither do parents and other caregivers who live with students, who are also adults. Reopening schools means higher risk of the adults who interact with the kids to get COVID-19. And the more people in a community who are sick, the more the disease will spread.

The CDC understands this. And with more evidence that kids get and spread COVID-19, in places where the outbreak isn't contained, which is the majority of the country, reopening schools will mean more community spread, more people sick, and more people dying.

It's not if the virus spreads through most schools, it's when. Then what?

Better to accept reality that reopening schools in most places right now is too risky. It will cause more community spread. Better to focus on closing the digital divide and get kids who need, the tech and connectivity they need to distance learn. It's what's going to need to happen anyway when the virus spreads through a Title 1 school that will need to close for a few weeks.

Wear masks. That was what was said about the Lewis funeral. Wear a mask and your safe. So if teachers and staff wear masks and kids wear masks everyone is safe.

I don’t care if you read what I post or not. In the rare times I address your posts, it is never for you, but for third parties. You refer to my posts and “drivel,” but have nothing to say about: a) the lack of data to support your assertion about schools on Sweeden; b) the experience in schools in israel; c) the spread of the virus on three camps involved Florida and the camp on Georgia. So, when you reference a comment on your posts as “drivel,” just know that there are parent limitations on the ability of posters to discuss anything with you.

Masks aren't panaceas. Thousands of medical personnel have gotten sick, and they wear PPE on an everyday basis. We expect teachers to be safe when dealing with a class full of kids?

You always reply and you whine every time. Sucks you won’t listen to 60,000+ doctors and the cdc. But yeah I’m sure someone reading this message board will listen to you over them LOL. That’s funny.
