There would most certainly be a lower death rate just from learning better treatments.

Why You Should Be Skeptical About Stories Of People Getting Coronavirus Twice
Why You Should Be Skeptical About Stories Of People Getting Coronavirus Twice | HuffPost
Because the diagnostic tests are designed to look for parts of the virus’s RNA, false positives can also arise when a dead fragment of the virus is detected in a patient ― meaning that the patient made a recovery but still has bits of the virus’s genetic material in his system that are not infectious.

Variables in testing mean that a number of possible scenarios could play out. It’s complicated, too, because we know that symptoms of COVID-19 can vary widely. Some people do not experience any at all while others present them for weeks, even if they don’t have a severe case. Scientists are still learning why.

Given all of that, a patient could falsely test positive then accurately test negative before she actually picks up the virus and falls ill, leading her to suspect she might have had it twice.

In another case, a false negative test could lead a patient to believe he’d recovered when he was actually still battling the virus.

I've been pointing this out for a while now. Sure, there's been a small bounce in deaths, but the death rate overall has been significantly reduced. I've also read that as the virus mutates and becomes more contagious, it loses its potency. I think it's pretty clear the virus has become more contagious. Florida cases have been exploding for over a month now. I'm not there, but I would have to think there is more awareness today than there was a month ago in the state of Florida. More precaution taking, more mask wearing. Maybe I'm wrong. And yet, the new cases figures continue to come in 10,000+ strong a day.

Lots of good photos to go around.
Side note, I really do love where I live. I have dc 45 minutes in one direction and this 45 minutes in the other. Can’t beat it.
    One more from today.

This is what happens when there is community spread. 4 Marlins players tested positive out of their 3O man roster. With precautions and regular testing. We have ranged between 9,000 and 13,000 positives for a while. Two days in a row over 3300 positives in Miami Dade.

humpbacks bubble net feeding in Resurrection Bay outside of Seward last month. I could watch this go on all day. Team of whales work together blowing walls of bubbles in ever increasingly smaller circles and then the other part of the team swims straight up through the center of the bubble net engulfing thousands of herring at a time. The humpbacks actually emit a high enough frequency sound that it disrupts the swim bladder of the herring such that the herring ability to dart at the last minute is decreased. Herring will often try and school up under a boat to seek shelter from the whales so they will often surface in close proximity to a boat. Between the subsurface microphone we had on our tour and reading the birds you always had a good idea when and where they were about to bust out

Meanwhile in sports, 4 Marlins and also Reds players tested positive today. The Marlins stayed in Philadelphia so they can quarantine the players who tested positive and come back and go straight it the game in Miami tomorrow. I imagine they test in the AM. And a Red Sox player has a post infection cardiological issue.

Today marked the lowest new case count in 19 days, nationwide. Dr. Birx over the weekend said it's plateaued in Florida, Texas and California.

Thanks for the shoutout! I'm due to share a new hiking pic. Planning to scout a new waterfall this week, so I'll be sure to share. Lately, the wife and I have been immersed with a landscaping project. Here's my sub for a hiking pic, with before & after shots. BTW - this was my first ever landscaping venture and many times along the way, I thought about @Bazza not only with a new sense of respect, but with hopes that he might in some way approve.

    Here's the before . . .
