Rabbit Lake hike in the Chugach Mountains just outside of Anchorage. Easy hike by Alaska standards, 1300' elevation in 4.5 miles. Hike up through Bear Valley, several areas of high brush to hike through with no visibility other than down the trail. Valley was covered with blueberry and salmon berry bushes all still early in their growth but I could see why the bears that favor berries would be there. Most everybody we saw carried bear spray or a bear whistle aka 45 cal handgun. There were a few people running the path with earbuds in which seemed like a good way to get sideways with a grizzly
My mother is in the same situation. And for those selfish pricks who casually say old folks should just isolate while everyone else goes out, they are totally discounting the loss of quality of life for people who are now confined to their rooms, practically like solitary confinement.
all these people that keep talking about protecting those at risk but let it run its course otherwise don't seem to be bright enough to understand that the only way to do that is to keep the infection rate in the community down such that there is very low risk that the nurses, therapists, cooks, janitors are at high risk of infection that will likely not get caught early enough to prevent the exposure to those in the homes. Do they really think that these people that work with the at risk population will not be at even higher risk of infection after schools open and their kids bring it home from school?
Went to Publix this afternoon. Saw around 10 people in there not wearing masks. I was that guy making a scene today. Asked more than one how many people would have to die alone or spend weeks in ICU before their selfish asses would get the message. When I pushed manager as to why they were not enforcing their own mask requirements, manager said corporate told them that enforcement was not to be attempted to avoid confrontation. Perhaps if/when they become more concerned about confrontation from those of us that are doing our part then it will change. Sad to think that I have to become that highly vocal, confrontational individual so that they become more scared of me than the idiots without the mask...all it takes for evil to prosper is for good to remain silent..or something like that. Tired of being silent and polite, guess I need to start carrying again so that I am less at risk if someone doesn't like what I have to say and decides to draw. We should not have to continue to remain silent out of fear of confrontation
@gator95, should we continue to let our loved ones die without calling out the selfish pigs that won't wear a mask in compliance with a store's rules? Should I cower in the face of confrontation from someone who might not like what I have to say? Should store employees be in fear of enforcing their own policies? Tired of it. Too much death and suffering trying to avoid confrontation with the selfish pricks who won't do their small part. Likely that my Mom who has been locked down in nursing home for over 4 months now has been exposed and lost her best friend there from employees there that were exposed due to high numbers of cases in the community which are a direct result of the selfish pricks unwilling to do their small part. maybe your at risk parents or someone you care about should get exposed from staff and lose someone close to them to balance the karma from you and your ilk refusing to recognize the need to shut down and wear masks until this is under control
Maybe the staffers got COVID from asymptomatic people who went out to eat without masks and were not in fear, and feel we should protect the vulnerable? Btw: the New York study showed that infected staffers are how the virus got into nursing homes.
or asym kids or going to stores or other public places with asym or low symptom infected people. the fact is that the more the virus is int he community the greater likelihood that the staffers are going to be infected. this isn't rocket science and it is no longer refutable that masks substantially reduce the transmission rate
not looking for a fight but not going to stay silent to avoid one either. Is the employee at Publix or Walmart looking for a fight if they refuse to service someone not wearing a mask? No they aren't but they are acting in fear of a confrontation by not enforcing the requirement and putting themselves, and others, at risk to avoid the confrontation. Tired of remaining silent out of fear that opposition may become violent when confronted about their unwillingness to do their part so if violence is what they want then I better be prepared to respond in kind or I better remain silent. too many people remaining silent out of intimidation of others turning up the heat. Don't bring none, there won't be none, but if you bring it you better be ready for me to response in kind and with prejudice. everybody do their part. if you don't want to wear a mask, stay home, don't put me and mine at risk
and if you believe that Cuomo crap I have a bridge in Arizona for sale. keep defending the no mask wearing hypocrite
covid brought into my Mom's ward by staffers in Florida. that ain't no covid crap, that's real and Cuomo had nothing to do with it. Cuomo didn't author or write that study, it was independent. you and yours just keep refusing to acknowledge the science to support your insupportable positions. If Cuomo isn't wearing a mask when not maintaining social distancing please provide proof and I will join you in calling him a hypocrit but why don't you focus closer to home and acknowledge how our stupid actions for not wearing masks is putting the at risk population in danger? the more virus in the community the more likely the staffers will get infected and take it to the at risk enclaves. there is so much virus in the community because of you and others like you. congratulations your ideology is helping kill people. feel proud?
UGH! So now we're doing over 1000 deaths and 75,000 new cases/day? How on Earth can anyone possibly conclude that we have a handle on this? I think Texas got especially hammered today.
Maybe you want to use the phrase, “ocean front property in Arizona” instead? Arizona actually has bridges, they’re a real thing...
Plenty of beach in Arizona. Just limited amount of water! But we do have bridges, including the original London Bridge, which was brought over and now resides in Lake Havasu, AZ.
What, that Arizona has bridges? Check it out, You’ll Want to Cross These 10 Amazing Bridges In Arizona Told ya they were real!
