Three day increases are back down after being way up this past Friday. I'll wait until Thursday to post the past two intervals. Hopefully the decrease continues.

Nice! You’re getting out a bunch. How long of a hike? This was my Sunday... I am continuing to explore the Linville Gorge. Will probably take me a bunch of weekends to really get through it.

    That’s a great pic.
Mary’s Rock is a short hike, maybe 4 miles round trip, though you can make it longer since it’s on the AT. The fun is that in the 1.8 miles up or whatever it is, you gain 1200 feet in elevation so it’s a nice workout.
As far as getting out, I try to do one hike a weekend, depending on weather. Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, but always try to find something with a payoff for a view, makes it worth the effort. And lots of choices within an hour or two of here. Went to Shenandoah this week because it was 98 degrees here, so altitude was the good bet.

    American Death Cult

The authors walk through the shift from Republicans being the party of science and the democrats being the party of religionists as recently as the 70s to our current situation where they have traded places.

It’s interesting because I would say if you get the flu, you will be down for a minimum of 3 days and it zaps you pretty good. C19 otoh, you may not even know you had it or you may lose taste/ smell.
It’s not that easy of an answer for me.
Hell, I think I’ve already contract COVID twice already and it wasn’t a bid deal.

An over complicated assessment. When the ignorant lead policy makers instead of leaders guiding the country for its own well being, this is what happens. Trump is not s leader; he is a lemming following his base to the edge because he feels he cannot alienate them. And if that means a spreading pandemic, illness and deaths, so be it if he thinks it is better for him. That is the way the weak are. And they depend on spineless followers like the AG and others and a willingness of their supporters to accept any restriction on rights and freedoms— so long as it is the other guy. They find out too later when it comes home to roost. But, we can vote them out in November and restore competence and leadership looking out for the country.

Perhaps a dumb question to be asking on page 779, but how is it that the stats for a day are released on the morning?

If you are talking about what I post, it basically is what the numbers were at the end of yesterday. I think this morning when I did it only 1 state had reported anything at 8 am.

How Deadly Is Covid-19? Researchers Are Getting Closer to an Answer

An analysis of 26 different studies estimating the infection-fatality rate in different parts of the globe found an aggregate estimate of about 0.68%, with a range of 0.53% to 0.82%, according to a report posted in July on the preprint server medRxiv, which hasn’t yet been reviewed by other researchers.
