15 L.A. County children sickened by rare coronavirus-related inflammatory syndrome A rare but serious and potentially deadly inflammatory syndrome believed to be associated with the coronavirus has now been identified in 15 children in Los Angeles County, officials said. Multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children, or MIS-C, can cause different parts of the body to become inflamed, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes or gastrointestinal organs. Symptoms include fever, pain in the abdomen, vomiting, diarrhea, neck pain, rash, bloodshot eyes and exhaustion. The syndrome has also been called pediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome, or PIMS. Most of the children developed MIS-C about two to four weeks after being infected with the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, the CDC says. "Many questions remain about why some children develop it after a COVID-19 illness or contact with someone with COVID-19, while others do not," the agency said.
Updated stats from world o meter as of 8 am EDT. I did not update this over the weekend so it represents 3 days worth of reports. Also, on Mondays I include the testing numbers. There were 10 states with a decrease in active cases, lead by NY and NJ. There were 16 states with 1-6 deaths and just 1 state with 0 deaths over those 3 days.
There were 5.8 MM tests done last week, and the positive results per test stayed pretty consistent 7.96% last week to 7.99% this week.
The death rate per reported case continues to drop and has dropped steadily since peaking at 6.00% on May 21st.
On political message boards we only get a very narrow look at someone's politics. There is a tendency to breeze past the stuff where we agree and only engage on the topics where we disagree. Gator95 isn't as far out there as their posting suggests, it is more that the things she chooses to engage with are already far out there, amplifying the perception through what they choose to engage with rather than their overall politics.
Locally our biggest hospital has 70 admitted COVID + patients. 30 are waiting for negative tests to be sent back to nursing homes. I wonder if this is an issue statewide where hospitalization numbers are up so much in part because Nursing homes can't and shouldn't take COVID patients back until their are clear of COVID.
This is a post by a qanonconspiracist and most likely white supremacist. The account is only 4 days old and has posted mostly conspiracy videos. The Pepe the frog used as the avatar is an alt-right symbol (not always but in this case definitely based on the content of the videos posted so far and the Trump wig it's wearing, which is a common tweak made by the alt right). Just thought I would inform people who they are giving ad money to if they watch this video.
That women’s video, without the Pepe and sign language interpreter, was posted on here weeks ago. Not sure how it ended up inside another video.
Yeah the person hosting that particular video def alt-right. The original video is from The Adley Show channel on youtube. Apparently, she is a "The Voice" season 2 contestant and also aspiring comedian. And fwiw, I thought this was really funny.
Growl: Pepe the Frog with Trump’s hair should be a red flag that this is a fringe alt right site. And the video was from months ago was actually intended to be funny.
according to worldometer, the number of new cases today 62,879 was the lowest in 8 days, hope that is the start of a trend, this was based with about 820,000 tests.
according to covid 19 tracking, since the 1st of july, the positive test % is 8.4, overall it is at 8.25, so, despite high positives, the overall percentage is sill stable.
