All the Dem governors, obviously. There weren't BLM protests or riots in states or cities with Republican leadership. Wait a second.... I live in a city with a Republican mayor, in a state with a Republican Governor. And we had BLM riots.. what the hell???

Yes. Seattle where they actually formed a temporary caliphate. Huge GOP stronghold. You nailed it.

Have moved the goal post to caliphate in Seattle on a Covid thread. OK.

Does moving the goal post even fit here? Straw man? Changing the subject...

Spoke to a former advisor to Rubio yesterday. Note the word former...

Nothing but his guess after being a senior advisor that Rubio would go full blown Mitt Romney. Take it for what it’s worth, but said it is a combination of Rubio personally being attacked by Trump still festering and his faith (which I read as not wanting to be seen as a hypocrite when he runs in 2024 as Sleepy Joe isn’t going to last 8 years).

Atlanta. They haven't seen a Democratic mayor since the 1800's.

Thank you for this insight. If true, it confirms what many of us have suspected about Rubio for a few years now. Mitt Romney is a traitor. I sure hope Marco doesn't go that far. But Mr. Trump warned us about these wolves in sheeps clothing. Still more draining to do. If Marco knows what's good, he'll toe the line. Not holding my breath.

If you think Mitt Romney is a traitor for not toeing the Trump line, is it fair to say you feel the same way about McCain on his healthcare vote?

So we can assume those same people were taking Covid seriously prior to the protests? For some reason a highly doubt that....

Testament to effort to inure us to the death toll; it’s 140,000 now. What’s 10,000 dead citizens here or there. Just a number.

(That’s not a dig at you)

We are 10,000 higher than the number in your consciousness. Soon it will be 150,000.

Trump really doesn’t give a shit. Has anyone heard him say anything that sounded genuinely empathetic about all our dead fellow citizens?

    Seriously? Have you?

I’ve seen, heard or read a handful of acknowledgements. But the guy gives no indication any of that matters to him. He’ll passionately defend the bleeping suburbs, statues, the confederate flag and hold up the next stimulus package over a payroll tax cut that benefits people with jobs; primarily well off folks with jobs.

If you add up mentions of suburbs, statues and flags from the last two or three weeks I guarantee you it is larger than the mentions of the ten thousand more that have died in that time.

In what world does that make any kind of sense?

He doesn’t care about people dying. He cares about getting re-elected. Period.

Republican Max Boot saying the something similar a year ago. There’s a line of hypocrisy my vote can’t cross. Rubio is on the wrong side of that line.

McCain stood up when it was hard. Flake did. Romney is. Rubio is just another political animal reading which way the wind is blowing.

I was also thinking recently. In times of crisis, EVERY president has given a similar, “now is the time to unite” “America will come out of this together, stronger”
type of speech. His followers aren’t going anywhere regardless of what he says and does, but wouldn’t a few of those speeches, like every other president ever always gives, have likely helped him with the middle of the pack voters? Amazing that this is the strategy his highly paid staff determined would be the beat option.

Someone in his staff said we need to double down on the science deniers and racists. Amazingly, that seems to be what trump agreed to.

I'm willing to let Rubio find a spine and stand up for what he believes is right. I'm not sure he has yet, but he is welcome to.
