Pretty much. If you look at many of the major cities where there were huge protests, there was no spike in cases in the weeks after. Where there were spikes in mid to late June were where places like Florida and Texas, where the bars opened in early June.
Agreed. And this is why schools should remain online in hot spots until the virus is under control. In classrooms with 30 students, social distancing will be impossible. With just 20, it will be very difficult, especially for younger kids, who likely aren't going to keep a mask on or socially distance themselves for 7+ hours a day. The kids themselves are low risk, but how many teachers and other school employees are higher risk? And what about the parents, grandparents, guardians that these kids will expose the virus to? They are all higher risk than the kids. In places that meed CDC Phase 2 guidelines, the risk is low enough to open schools. In other places, opening schools are only going to increase the spread of the disease.
Mask wearing in Japan is near universal and they haven't shut their economy down. Japan has a total of about 23,000 cases and less than 1000 deaths. Masks work. Americans who refuse to wear them are idiots.
LA, Oakland, San Fran, Atlanta, New Orleans, Charlotte, Charleston, Columbia, Jackson, Memphis and countless others? Come on man.
Let's not pretend this is anything other than Dems bad Pubs good from you. Trump's rally was in clear violation of CDC guidlines. And it was planned. Indoors. And for what? Ego stroking.
I didn’t clock it, but it was the second article on my first attempted search. I’d estimate 7 seconds?
Trump has been awful leading us thru this pandemic. Just atrocious. So has the CDC and the WHO as well. I think the push back is when people rip someone from one party(DeSantis) but never said crap or made countless excuses for another party(say Cuomo). I think that’s what usually pisses most people off. At least it does for me.
Some of those places, like San Fran, didn't have a spike in cases after the protests. But basically you are listing a lot of places that reopened. The reopening is the reason cases have gone up so much.
It should also be noted that your alt right homeboys were allowed to march on the capital buildings without interference. So, your “mask truthers” using the BLM protests as an excuse it’s extremely hypocritical.
Maybe that’s because Cuomo actually did pretty well? New York has a full bell shaped curve. They didn’t reopen prematurely, they followed the guidelines to a t which lead to them crushing their curve (for now). Maybe you can direct your ire towards Newsome, since they reopened their cases are surging? He seems to say the right things unlike some of the Republican failures, but the state of Cali is going the wrong way, not Florida/Texas bad, but going the wrong way nonetheless. Florida and Texas are getting the press because they are “epicenter” bad. But there are actually over 30 states rising right now.
You see this is what hypocrisy looks like. Making excuses for the Governor with the highest death count, 2nd highest death rate. Meanwhile Florida’s death rate is 8 times lower. The back peddling done by you in that post is amazing. Newsome has done a fine job. I don’t play politics like some on here. He’s done as well as DeSantis. Trump has been a disaster as well from day1. I’m glad he will be out in November. It will settle the country down by having Biden in office.
Not unexpected, but questionable why the superpowers aren’t seeing this as open sourced race to find a cure. U.S. Says Russian Hackers Are Trying To Steal Coronavirus Vaccine Research
So you think Trump holding a rally in Tulsa was a good idea? And the people that showed up weren't idiots?
Agree with everything here. I would even argue that physical distancing is THE most important method of mitigation. That, however, is not dichotomous like wearing/not wearing a mask. And as for crowds, I would even say that putting yourself in a crowd of a few thousand people who are shoulder to shoulder during a pandemic is idiotic.
Actually the 1944 Public Health Act granted authority to the department that is now known as the Department of Health and Human Services, to issue mandatory quarantines as well as issue mandatory protective acts, including a federal mandatory mask order. Specifically, the Surgeon General of the United States or the Director of what is now the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, can both issue those orders. And, as it is an authority granted by Congress, the President does not have the authority to overrule these public health directors. So, you are correct that they cannot make laws, but they sure as hell can issue directives that not even the president can deny or ignore, during times of a declared public health emergency.
