    oopsy lol. Sorry about that.

...and that article is about running close to each other correct? He said his friends live in rural areas where they don't encounter others. How does that make them a-holes.

That isn’t the conclusion of the test. And if these runners pass someone running? Can they guarantee that they will not? People who go out and don’t quarantine knowing they have COVID are a**holes.

there was an article posted here a month or two ago that you need to be in someone’s close breath contact for about Five minutes before you’re at risk, and that’s with no mask. A bit less with talking. Even if someone is infected and breathing harder from running, the odds seem really low unless you are in the slip stream for a while. And even lower you’re wearing a mask and outdoors with a breeze.
Has made me far less concerned about hiking, I’ve probably passed upwards of 1000 people in all my hikes, and knock on wood nothing (unless I was an asymptomatic). That includes a decent number of joggers, bikers etc.

that said, it would still be the decent thing to do for those four to stay in. Why knowingly put anyone at risk, even with lower odds?

I mean I can 100% guarantee I avoid someone on my run. Where I live it is easy.

    Good point . . . let's extrapolate.

    Nation......Daily cases.......population.......Equiv cases/population.......difference
    U.S...........55,442...............328mil..............55,442..................................0.0
    Germany.....298...................83mil..............14,030..................................-41,412
    Denmark.....10.....................5.8mil..............980.....................................-54,462
    Norway.......11.....................5.4mil..............913.....................................-54,529
    Swedeen.....57.....................10.2mil............1,724..................................-53,718

Looks like when we control for population, Germany was only 41k cases lower than the U.S. Those nordic countries only outpaced us by 54k cases for one day! :emoji_nerd: USA! USA!

Is all this as simple as we dont back down from fear?
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself...so I’ve heard.

The US set a record today for new COVID-19 cases.

Also, the President of the United States has not attended a Coronavirus Task Force meeting since April.

It’s almost like trying to stop climate change. Some of mans actions are truly fruitless. Mother nature wins.

This man's (Trump's) actions are fruitless because of his actions, not in spite of them.

Yet many other nations have bent the curve down and have it under control, and can reopen their economies. Of course, they have leaders who lead and actually give a damn. Unlike the US of A.

And their economies amount to what compared to ours if we remained shut down?

That's a pretty convenient excuse. I guess nature doesn't exist in other countries that have done a much better job greatly reducing the spread after their peaks...

Their economy is as important to them as ours is to us.

As someone who has made a living understanding earth history I am OK with my opinion. And that doesn’t even include the impact on the rest of the world if the largest economy on the earth goes into hibernation for longer than we have.
