One of the vaccine trials is trying to stimulate memory T cells. I can't recall the company, their reasoning is it will give lasting immunity and won't require yearly boosters like the seasonal Flu.
Florida will require public schools to reopen in August despite a surge in coronavirus cases (CNN)Florida, the new US hotspot for coronavirus, will require schools to reopen in August. The state's Commissioner of the Department of Education, Richard Corcoran, issued an emergency order on Monday requiring all "brick and mortar schools" to open "at least five days per week for all students. I understand the need to have plans in place for re opening but to put out an executive order is just foolish.
looks like screwy numbers today, arizona is reporting 117 deaths today, reported 1 yesterday, again, its almost impossible to believe anything anymore on these sites.
Part of it is a staffing issue at hospitals, which have been operating at near ICU capacity for the last three weeks. Taking care of the living takes precedence over counting the dead. Arizona is now doing what NY did a few months ago, and pay for ICU nurses to come from across the country to take care of the number of COVID patients. Weekly rolling numbers are more accurate than daily.
hate to continue to harp on report accuracy, but when you have things like arizona today, and the numbers on mon/tues are always higher due to nothing over the weekend, the media sees big jumps, puts out panic reports, yet never explains why they are higher, ie weekend catch-up.seems they are always looking for the negative , saw nothing about no daily deaths over 1,000 since june 10, 9 days with less than 500 deaths since then.
Looking at “todays” numbers is actually pointless, especially for deaths. I thought everyone figured that out by now, but I guess some are a bit slow on the uptake. It’s not just about “fluctuations”, but death numbers actually get filled in for weeks after the date. Seriously, if you are looking at “today” July 7. Mark down what it is at the end of the day, then look at the July 7 numbers a week later, and again a month later. It’s guaranteed to have gone up, probably substantially so. So seriously, looking at “today” numbers is a pointless and fruitless endeavor...the trends are all that matter.
A friend was in south Florida this weekend and talked to an ICU nurse. She said all deaths were attributed to COVID-19. The hospitals got more money that way.
Sorta, but you're not comparing one Monday to the next. It's a moving average that smooths out the irregularities of frequent data inputs and fluctuations to get a more visible understanding of trends. Look at the wildly up and down data below and see how a moving average makes the trends visible.
so, hospitals are fudging numbers for profit, is that not fraud?gee, guess the death rate is even lower if more cities and states are doing this, seems immoral,to me, to profit off of death by calling it covid if it is not, but that's been my stance all along.
You just compared NY to NC. Your comment about NY killing off "all the weak people" is really disappointing.
Please ask your friend's remote acquaintance to provide some evidence. This would undermine some serious quantitive studies that show we are undercounting deaths in general.
You say that you can't compare other states, then you do just that. Early according to health professionals: This week, Caitlin Rivers, a leading scholar at Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security told a U.S. House Appropriations subcommittee that none of the states meet all the criteria needed to start reopening. "The center laid out the criteria for states to reference before they ease restrictions, but not all states adopted them. The criteria includes a 14-day decline in cases, the ability to contact trace, a health system that can safely care for patients including enough protective gear for health care workers, and enough rapid diagnostic testing." I don't know why you're picking at the "early," nit. Some state's own governors are saying they opened too fast and too early, and are shutting things down again.
thats ok, cuomo will roll in 4,000 or5,000 more deaths, calm down, it's a joke, gotta get my daily cuomo whack in.
I was using hyperbole to make a point. A state that actively stuck sick people into nursing homes where the weak would be at risk, thus driving their numbers tragically upward is not apples to apples with a state that did no such thing and kept numbers much lower relatively. Therefore the state that did a better job would seem better equipped for an early opening. And using the established baselines from earlier to say that states spiking now should have waited makes no sense. Of course states with terrible early death rates will see a drop. Meanwhile NC is nowhere near a hospital crisis, yet are commonly mentioned as a state that opened up early, while NY is being praised in some circles when they literally had a strategy that endangered the weakest among them. Reopening is done is phases. Most states have frozen at the current phase as we work through this. Phase three was due to start here 3 weeks ago. It is now at least two weeks away. And I remind you this is not political. I think we have a terrible governor, but I feel he has handled this well with some exceptions.
