Yep. Classmates/friends are an integral part of the college experience. Go ahead and make whatever argument you have to try and justify a policy that the vast majority of people can see is dumb and harmful to this country.

they are spending Money on rent, food etc that the country and particularly landlords need right now. They may not come back to school, and given that they are the highest of tuition revenue streams at a time when colleges desperately need money colleges get hurt badly. One of the reasons we are the technological capital of the world is because a lot of these kids stay here after college. We retain the best and brightest from around the planet, they can’t do that if they aren’t here. It also disincentivizes kids from coming in the future if they feel they will be kicked out at some point. Not to mention those brains will now be competing against us and not for us if they choose to leave. All over what’s hopefully one or two semesters where a simple waiver would let them stay.
So Yeah, really bad, short sighted idea.

Because it allows him to give off the impression that he has an actual rebuttal when he doesn't.

No, poor people aren't coming here right now either, as Trump has shut down the visa systems for them as well with the exception of temporary agriculture workers, who are poor. But we are discussing how people coming into colleges get here, and that isn't by lining up at the border. They get a visa while still in their home country and fly here. And if you talk to many of the people in this pool, they are not terribly interested in coming to the US if they can get their education and not be exposed to the Covid rates in the US.

Again, try to keep up. What we were discussing was really not that complicated.

Trump doesn’t care about the well being of the country. All he cares about is himself, which right now, is about the fringe right wing tv and steaming network he plans to start after he loses the upcoming electoral landslide. To bring this back to the thread, he will not even talk about COVID. What a loser.

I’m not bothered by the insults. I know this is a rough time for them, with the death rates plunging and all.

They are too busy saying immigrants can’t go to Harvard or any good schools.

Literally nobody posted that. We were discussing the visas by which...immigrants go to Harvard and other good schools. Seriously. Are you even trying to keep up?

If you are Central American and have an admission to a US school, you apply for a visa in your country and are granted admission into the country (assuming you pass the checks). No lining up at the border, as you claimed. You can then just easily fly into the country.

Because it was such a ridiculous point. Is there another point that you would like me to address instead since there’s flaws in all of the points he raised.

If classes are online, how would staying in the US enable you to do lab work?

Not for the 130,000 dead people and hundreds of thousands of others that had extended ICU stays. And their friends, family and coworkers.

A lot of universities have opened the labs but might not open for general instruction. Again, how they word this order will be important.

You are completely twisting the words and you know it. There's no need to do this if you have an honest gripe with it.
