according to worldometer, there were 1,008,514 tests today with 46,042 new cases, not a daily record by the way, for a daily % of 4.6%, below the overall average of 8%. i may be in the minority, but a 4.6% positive rate on over a million tests seems good. also, for the 25th day out of the last 26 less than 1000 deaths. those are the facts, not my opinion, and if you think its to sunshinny or gleeful, well,so be it. we will see if we come close to fauci's 100,000 a day new case prediction. being a glass half full guy, i say no.
I follow world o meters but not for their test data. The covid tracking project has great data on tests and reports useful graphs on their twitter page. They reported just over 600k tests today which may be a record. I don’t believe the 1 million number you are stating is correct. A few days ago the covid tacking project posted a great chart of positivity percentage across different regions. The US as a whole isn’t doing too bad but south and west are definitely moving in the wrong direction including positivity rates. However, deaths have not moved in the wrong direction yet which is obviously the most important metric.
I think world-o-meters testing stat includes follow-up tests while their new case counts only include fresh diagnoses, so a lot of those tests are not administered in a fashion that can lead to a new case.
Aside from the SE & SW explosion, it's interesting to note some of the rural counties (see Utah, SD, IA, MN) with relatively large numbers of cases. There's a rural county in sw MN in which one out of every 13 persons is infected. My county in northern MN is one out of every 1200. Alachua county is one per 225 - that ratio was much lower a couple weeks ago. I wonder where the worst ratios are throughout the U.S. at this time.
all i know is i subtracted the total number of tests at day end yesterday from the total at day end today and got the number i quoted. to me, if they are retesting it still ,to me, is a new test because a p[ositive retest would count as a new case,would it not, even if you tested negative before.as for covid tracking, they are behind on new cases, deaths, and overall tests, dont know why
If you test positive, at some point you have to test at least more time to have a negative test before most companies will let you come back to work.
Updated stats from world 0 meter as of 8 am EDT. There were 13 states with a decrease in active cases. There were 4 states with 1-2 deaths and 11 states with 0 deaths.
I don't know: 4.79 deaths per reported case seems kinda high to me. Are the other 3.79 homicides? Is there a zombie component of this virus they aren't telling us about?
