sure. What does that have to do with Florida’s current ridiculousness? Answer: nothing.

If most of the new cases are among the younger bar scene crowd, it's not going to do much to inflate the death rate. And I don't see what DeSantis has done that is so different than most other states, including many states ran by Democrat governors. It stands to reason that Florida, with its high rate of transient population, is going to see some spread. There's not much DeSantis can do about that unless he wants to bar out of staters from entering Florida.

Updated stats from world o meter as of 8 am EDT. I updated the testing numbers today as I only do that once a week. Over 4MM tests this week, and the positive rate dropped from 8.89% to 8.03%. There were 10 states with a decrease in active cases since Saturday, I didn't update on Sunday. There were 10 states with 1-4 deaths since Saturday and 3 states with 0 deaths.

that is a lame ass excuse and if you’re willing to make that weak ass excuse for desantis you should be willing to do it for cuomo too. Not that I give a crap about cuomo but since you two care so much about hypocrisy I just thought you’d Be more fair. Oops.

Well, we are 27th at Math in the world, but Trump led us straight to No. 1 on this graph. Surely that means we are poised to reopen faster than the rest of the world right?

    Scary article for Houston.
‘Feeling Like Death’: Inside a Houston Hospital Bracing for a Virus Peak

The constant misinformation, ignoring of experts, and lack of competent organization is simply stunning. My amazement at the incompetency is only exceeded by my surprise at those who continue to defend it.

You say that as if the younger bar scene crowd lives in a vacuum. They interact with everyone else, they shop at the same grocery stores we do. They have jobs just like the rest of us. Any time you have explosive growth, even if limited to a particular demographic, it's going to lead to growth among all demographics.

Our daily case detection rate has gone up more than 10x over the month of June (~700/day to nearly 10k/day)...there are significantly more people actively carrying the virus today. The odds of ANYONE picking it up is correspondingly higher than it was a month ago. It defies logic to think we can have a 10x increase in infections and not see that lead to an increase in deaths. It's pretty much inevitable at this point (although I hope medical science proves me wrong).

Interesting take. Don't know what percentage of false positives are for each type of test. I think the reason hospitals aren't being overrun is because the average age of infected is around 35. Most people that age don't have serious complications due to Covid19. Now i'm sure someone will post an example of someone who is 35 and having serious issues. But that is a ridiculously small percentage of patients.

I hope you’re wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing your hands. That will do more to help the governor than crunching numbers.

The only problem with the 35 year old is they aren’t necessarily going to infect other 35 year olds.

Not saying they won't. People need to be smart and isolate the elderly and those with underlying conditions.

Yeah I mean, if you're over 70 and not self-isolating at this point, I don't know what to tell you, but you are clearly putting yourself at risk. Should I not be able to hit a bar, because you won't do the needful?

I love the notion that we can just cut off the elderly and those with preexisting conditions from everything because you need to go to a bar. No visits to doctors, no trips to the grocery store for essentials (the elderly are famously technologically savvy, afterall and will easily navigate the world of online shopping and delivery services- with their added expense), no access to PT or other such services, no help with things in their house, etc.

Should the 70 year old not be able to go somewhere without worrying because you’ve acted irresponsibly to society by hanging out in a bar for a few hours. Just depends on whose ox is getting gored doesn’t. You don’t want to give up any of your freedom but it’s alright to infringe on someone else’s. It is a two way street. Is it not?

No, it's not. I'm sorry, but if you're over 70, you clearly have more personal responsibility here. Just as you would potentially engaging in any other high risk behavior. Typical liberal pointing the finger somewhere else. Yes, isolation sucks, but if you're over 70, you're putting yourself at risk big time and no, you can't rely on anyone to do it for you, you have to protect yourself.
