Beshear has put in place some of the more restrictive orders in the country. I'm not worried about the people "breaking the law". Our case count here is so low, it's no wonder people aren't panicking and clinging to their masks. I think a majority of counties in the state still have less than 10 cases total. We've gotten lucky.
When I last checked, it was still about 75% of confirmed cases being from states that Hillary won in 2016. So I think it's likely there are a decent count of Democrats or left-leaners not doing what they need to do to stop the spread.
Yeah if only all those blue staters had been wearing their masks and not going out back in February and early March. They should have known better. I think if we compare Clinton states to Trump states over the last month or so, we see a different story.

Slice it however you like, but it’s probably pretty safe to say a lot of those confirmed cases were spread by Dems if Hillary states are responsible for 75% of the cases. And it’s always a treat to watch Dems knock Trump for things he didn’t do in January, yet Dems who spread the virus in March get the pass. I don't really care about comparing blue states and red states on this. It's you guys who have been doing that from the beginning. It's not about blue vs red. It's about states that have been proactive and states that haven't. Ohio, run by a Repub governor, has done a good job of mitigating the virus. Ohio is surrounded by hard hit states like Michigan and PA. Yet it has the lowest case rate of any state with more than 10 million population. But at least recognize that states like NY were at a huge disadvantage in the beginning when the virus was spreading before anyone knew it. Or don't, and be intellectually dishonest about it.
Probably just a coincidence but 18 out of the top 20 most population dense cities in the US are in states that Hillary won. I wouldn't work too hard trying to prove a direct correlation between Hillary voters and susceptibility to the virus.
Not going to defend de Blasio. I don't even like him. The things that Trump gets knocked for are having us totally unprepared for the pandemic -- things like testing and PPE. And also he gets blamed for basically denying that coronavirus was a threat at all ('soon down to close to 0 cases'). Yes, he's going to get knocked for that and rightly so.
This is a national problem. A worldwide pandemic. With predictable results of the handling was like it has been. New York was going to be overrun from mid-February when they had no idea of the scope of the seeding and the Trump Administration was outright lying about it, @GatorGuyDallas posted way upthread months ago. Trump ignored IC risk assessment. Which Trump said happens in January and has now been confirmed by Bolton. Bolton says Trump turned 'a blind eye' to the coronavirus pandemic New York had to deal with hospitals and motives being overrun and the delay in getting the Javitz Center and ship on line (the ship was originally for non-COVID patients). Field Hospitals were set up and being used in parks. It did not have the luxury of keeping patients who didn’t need the most critical care in hospitals, and they were sent back to nursing homes. And, of course, nobody knew what the top of the curve was until it was past. And the same problems were on the New York bedroom states in New Jersey and Connecticut, which skews the numbers. So, the Hilary Blue State argument is garbage and nonsense. It really is Lying with numbers and without context. Really remarkable to see that come up again after all these months. The Southern and sunbelt states have had ample warning and the benefit of time and experience and have blown it. And, the same posters who were screaming at those of us who have seen this coming and misinterpreting the numbers in these states earlier this month offer every excuse in the world for their science denying incorrect assessments of the daily numbers. Ultimately, this lies in ignoring the intelligence assessments back in January and February and lying. Like they are doing now.
It's definitely not. But the majority of the people who actively flout and encourage non-compliance are Trump supporters, plus Trump himself and the governors who are beholden to him. We're seeing the consequences.

You might need to find a new talking point. New York actually has the lowest percentage of nursing home-linked deaths in the country. Only 21% of covid deaths in NY are linked to nursing homes. In Florida, it's 52%.

You have a remarkable inability to look past raw numbers and discern what they mean and root causation. Even when people explain them to you, you ignore the explanation and just go back to your linear and inaccurate conclusion.

Trump deserves blame for taking the Pandemic playbook that the CDC began writing under W. Bush, and finished under Obama, and completely ignoring it. We had a plan, and during the early, most important weeks, Trump not only ignored it, said things like the virus was under control, it will soon be down to zero cases, and the virus would one day, magically disappear. If you want to make this a red versus blue thing, go for. But it's truly a national problem, and something that should unite all of us for a common good and goal, and not continue to divide us. Again, Trump's lack of leadership isn't helping any. He's never been a true POTUS, only President of those that voted for him. Last, as for death rates, they are a lagging indicator. Death can take 4 to 6 weeks from the onset of infection, meaning for states that are seeing a rise in cases today from opening up 3 to 4 weeks ago, we haven't necessarily hit peak death rates. This assumes that death rate will remain constant, which we all hope it goes down instead. Either way, it is likely death rates will go up, and something we are starting to see in Arizona. Look at the link, and the previous daily high in deaths was 33. But the more recent number for Friday shattered that at 44. It could be a one-day blip, but this tracks only confirmed COVID-19 deaths, and not suspected. Include suspected totals, and the numbers are even higher.
