I have never underestimated the number of idiots in the world (especially if you factor in selective idiocy).
As a heath guy and after working in hospitals for 5 years (non-medical side), I have always been aware that we often put ourselves in hospitals thru bad diet, no exercise, smoking, stupidity...... I would love to see heart disease addressed, but if some idiot will threaten a shopkeeper for having to wear a mask for ten minutes, how hard do you think getting a person to eat a piece of broccoli or do a damn sit-up is going to be?
One might even suggest elective idiocy. It's almost a certainty that the virus will get introduced to the building... hell, that's without even considering somebody INTENTIONALLY introducing it, which opens up another host of possibilities.
Updated stats from world o meter as of 1 pm EDT Saturday. I was out of town yesterday so I didn't update the sheet. I will do it again on Monday morning. There were 7 states with a decrease in active cases since Thursday morning and 5 states with 1-3 deaths and 6 states with 0 deaths.
Great post and absolutely agree. One minor correction: 640k/365 = 1753 deaths per day due to heart disease. I am keenly aware of heart disease as our country does not pay enough attention to it. The standard American diet sucks and has led to this.
Yeah, I changed it. Was confusing stats from two different things. Thanks for the assist and correction.
Damn. Since they are young and healthy, I am hopeful for a full recovery. Didn’t read the article but hopefully they are not infecting vulnerable people.
Six Trump Staffers Working Tulsa Rally Test Positive For COVID-19 AFP - Agence France Presse June 20, 2020 Six members of a campaign advance team working in Tulsa ahead of Donald Trump's Saturday rally here have tested positive for COVID-19, his campaign said, hours before the president was set to take the stage. The announcement was likely to further fuel concerns that the rally, Trump's first since the pandemic brought a halt to major on-the-ground political campaigning, could be a "super-spreader" event as the coronavirus proves resilient in several states and cities including Tulsa. Six Trump Staffers Working Tulsa Rally Test Positive For COVID-19 Off to a great start; freaking virus is already there and loose.
Anything that increases daily deaths by 10% in the US isn't just large, it's huge. What if we suddenly started having 5 or 6 airline crashes per day: Or if terrorist started killing 700 people per day in the US? Would you not consider that 'large' either?
Sure would. Or if murders increased by 700 people per day, so the number of people murdered in the US went from around 16k per year to 255k per year (which would be a 16x increase). If that happened we'd practically be under martial law.
Already at 28,283 new cases for the day. We'll be pushing a 7-day average we haven't seen since April. So much for the warmer air helping us, but I could see it getting worse heading into late fall, unless something changes drastically.
Heart disease is not a communicable disease. It can be prevented by better diet (plant based eating and not animals) and exercise. Truly personal responsibility. And, since this thread is about COVID, other causes of death are irrelevant to the discussions. Red herrings for those trying to distract from the discussion.
we are also pushing 500,000 or more tests daily, unprecedented numbers so, yes, despite some on this board saying more testing does not corrolate to higher new cases, it does.also, national average is about 8.7%, even with the last several days that average has been less than the overall national one.as of right now, worldometer has it at 527,000 tests today with a 6%, again, below the national average.
Literally nobody has said that testing more people won't uncover more with the virus. We have repeatedly stated that testing more doesn't completely explain higher numbers. When the percentage positive goes up with the higher number of tests clearly the disease is spreading.
