Digging into the numbers, they either found a couple or are getting delayed reporting. Brazoria County, just south of Houston, announced about 1/3 of their total today, and, even more ridiculously, Anderson County in East Texas announced almost 90% of their cases today. That looks like it might be a mistake or a very serious contact tracing given the population of the county (1.5% of the entire county was announced to have Covid today).

add in arizona and it's about 13,000 ,more than half the country total, so looking at the glass half full, get those 4 states back to normal numbers and the rest looks good.

well that makes today's texas numbers better, does not say much though for how they account and report the numbers, but thats just me and my penchant for accuracy.

Doesn't matter. Spread the numbers in Florida evenly over the last 4 days, and the average is over 2000 cases and the highest it has bee.

Looking at the current rates of increase in states, there seems to be an interesting trend. There may be a connection between case trends and statewide intelligence. These are mere observations, so take it for what it's worth. I'm using two sources for state intelligence rankings:
50 states ranked by intelligence scores
    https://worldpopulationreview.com/states/average-iq-by-state/

    Top 10 in increases

    State...................Intelligence rank........IQ rank

    California..............34...............................48
    Texas...................39...............................30
    Florida..................46...............................39
    Georgia................38...............................40
    Louisiana..............43...............................49
    North Carolina.......42...............................29
    Arizona.................41...............................43
    Alabama...............47...............................46
    South Carolina......45...............................38
    Utah....................24...............................24
    Average...............39.9............................38.6

The three least intelligent states (Hawaii, Nevada, Mississippi) are also on the rise, but didn't make the top 10. Six of the bottom 10 states in IQ are on the rise.

    Top 10 in decreases
    State...................Intelligence rank........IQ rank
    New York..............17...............................26
    New Jersey............9................................12
    Illinois..................15...............................31
    Massachu..............1.................................1
    Penn....................26...............................21
    Michigan...............21...............................27
    Maryland...............20..............................32
    Virginia.................13..............................17
    Conn.....................4................................9
    Ohio.....................18..............................18
    Average................13.4...........................19.4

The only "cross-over" in intelligence exists among Pennsylvania (26) and Utah (24). Otherwise, all states with the largest decreases were ranked more intelligent than the states with highest increases. Rising states North Carolina (29) and Utah (24) ranked higher in IQ than Illinois (31) and Maryland (32).

The averages are telling. They suggest that at the moment, states with the more intelligent people are declining, while states with generally less intelligent people are on the rise.

Well, if you want accuracy you do. I am making no case either way, just mentioning that it is a factor when comparing graphs.
Is it wrong to ask if it is apples to apples?

They can accuse if they wish, but they would be wrong ;). Obviously, a state ranking is not indicative of any individual here. There is potentially some interesting dialogue about state intelligence rankings and developments. Maybe this is a trend or perhaps it's an anomaly.

Updated stats as of 8 am EDT. There were 21 states with a decrease in the number of active cases. There were 6 states with just 1 or 2 deaths and 10 states with 0 deaths.
