not worried at all. Been out to dinner twice this week and at my son’s baseball practice 3 times this week. No one is walking up to my face and coughing in my close vicinity. That’s just making a worst case scenario. I deal in reality.
Alabama coronavirus outlook worsening amid state reopening BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — With Alabama’s coronavirus caseload worsening while casinos, churches and more reopen, the state’s most recognizable person had some stern words about bringing COVID-19 under control. “You need to be staying 6 feet away from me, and haven’t I told you you have to wear a mask when you’re in this building?” University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban, himself wearing a mask emblazoned with “Roll Tide,” scolded the school’s elephant mascot in a video released as the state reopened more. The situation in Alabama has become worse over the past 14 days, according to an AP analysis of testing data from The COVID Tracking Project. New daily cases have risen to 307 from 268, and the rate of daily tests coming back positive has increased from 6.7% to 7.5%. The AP used seven-day rolling averages to account for daily variability in the testing data. Data includes counts through Thursday. The state’s overall health trend worries disease experts including Lee. Jefferson County had its highest case count yet this week, she said, and the capital of Montgomery, where about 200,000 people live, is looking like a disease hot spot.
Reality merely means real things that could happen. Anybody who does not believe they or their family cannot catch a highly contagious disease is playing craps with their family. Each to their own, I guess.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/05/22/coronavirus-update-us/ The coronavirus could be spreading uncontrolled in 24 states in the U.S., particularly in the South and Midwest, according to new research that is yet to be peer-reviewed, which highlights the risk of a second wave of infections in places that reopen too quickly or without sufficient precautions.
We may not like him, but he isn't always stupid (Drew Brees carved out). And, they listen to him in Alabama.
i guess worse case outlooks are like bellybuttons, everyone has one.i mean, enough with every day another study shows this, and one shows that,i am tired of seeing 20 studies on this, who knows what to believe anymore.
Alternately one could say worse case outlooks are like brains. Everyone has one. Not everyone uses it.
And yet Duval county has an under 3% positive case rate avg over the last 2 weeks and has Only had one day in the last 2 weeks with over 30 new cases.
wonder why no mention anywhere in the media about the almost 450,000 recoveries? guess good news does not sell.
No, if they have a mask on, it will not harm you. The cloth masks people are wearing don't stop them from getting the virus, the masks stop them from giving the virus. This is an important distinction that far too many people still don't seem to grasp. My mask protects you. Your mask protects me. When you refuse to wear a mask, you aren't signalling that you aren't afraid of getting the disease, you are signalling that you are willing to spread the disease.
The loss of muscle mass is the hardest to digest. I mean most guys that yoked could go a year with no gym and not look like that. Wow.
Reading studies can become laborious, so I feel your pain. OTOH - it's good to be as well-informed as possible. You are right that research will produce variable findings and this is because of the specific conditions in which each study occurs. Few, if any, are infallible and that's why research publications include statements of delimitations and suggestions for future research, etc. It's better to be as well-informed as possible and that calls for careful consideration of each outcome/suggestion; it's why there is so much value ascribed to peer review.
??? He said that the number of new cases appears to be plateauing and that he hopes that means they will start to decrease soon. He also said that they are nowhere near where they want to be with testing and contact tracing. He mentioned the importance of safely reopening, including wearing masks.
Isn't this why we have expert advisors--highly trained people who are paid to analyze these things full time and advice us on their relevance?
The reporter talked about the rise in cases in Texas. And as for the Dallas mayor, see post 11518 or listen again.
