Yeah I lost 8lbs when I had it, not a diet I would recommend. I didn't leave our guest room that entire time, took me another few days to get my strength back. When people say its just the flu, they haven't had the actual flu, they had a cold. Only good that came from it is that my wife bought some N95 masks for me just in case I needed to leave the guest room and I still have some left.

Agree completely. I don't know how many really died covid or something else they way there counting is some what flawed. There's been a couple states that have already lowered their number of actually deaths and some that were counted wasn't ever even tested. This year I agree with that, I think and hope next year will be different .

also, a month ago the death rate of all closed cases, ie deaths and recovery was 36.1%, now it is 20.5%, meaning it seems to me we are making great headway in treating those who do come down with the virus.

That's like saying a hangnail is like losing a few fingers in an accident.

There is some similarity in the nature of the wound... just not the scope or severity.

Flu vaccines have allowed us not to have to make the same type of economically destructive decisions like those we are experiencing now...

despite there being 40 plus million cases of the flu each year.

I don't watch CNN but I would guess unless you also subscribe to a site like "Alt-Reich" news, you would be hard pressed to find something as useless as Breitbart.

-Overall, we rate Breitbart Questionable based on extreme right wing bias, publication of conspiracy theories and propaganda as well as numerous false claims.

-CNN: We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to several failed fact checks by TV hosts. However, news reporting on the website tends to be be properly sourced with minimal failed fact checks

Another way to think of it...

Because we have vaccines, some herd immunity protections, antivirals, worldwide, ongoing surveillance system, and a deep knowledge of flu viruses, the deaths attributed to the flu are nearly unpreventable, unless we want to start shutting down for the flu season. I mentioned this to you before I think, if anything, we might want to make some changes (after, if/when, we get through this episode) regarding flu season. Maybe some social distancing measures, etc...that aren't economically destructive but would likely help further prevent some deaths.

And yet, unlike the flu, we still need to get a vaccine and a lot more knowledge about this virus before we can consider some type of *full* return to normality...if even if that is a new normal, whatever it is.

I think the precautions people are taking, mainly washing hands and trying to avoid touching face etc will help with flu as well, as long as people keep doing it. Crazy it took all this to make people actually start washing hands, using sanitizer etc.

I know you and others don't like them. I personally do. I'll just have to disagree with you on the news sources

I agree with the last part we all have to make changes now and for the future, but shutting down the country was just ignorant

I do find some of their stories pretty good and I believe some of it, realizing they put there spin on it. I personally trust them over most sites that lean to the left. It's obvious I don't post or agree with every single story they come out with or I would have 5 to 10 treads a day by them. I know several on here claim they lie a lot but most of the stories I post have been pretty accurate and the one that haven't I've admitted to. I also made a claim about a year ago that more stories by CNN and the NY times that were posted on GC were proven inaccurate more than the ones posted by me from BreitBart or Gateway pundit and nobody has proven me wrong on that yet

I would like to think that people have been washing their hands before this but you are probably right.

How so? If one thing far more severe than another thing is basically the same, then that would be true in his instance as well. Based on your criteria of similarity, we could also say Smallpox and Covid are similar. The big difference between them, from a public health perspective, is how fast they spread and their death rates.
