Look back a few posts and people Pointing out that this is what happens when we open early, even though we have seen no concrete evidence. And shown me some of your positive comments on the good news we’ve had the last few weeks. I’ll wait...
All that and you left out out the pontificators who had death tolls in the millions by June. Hospitals over run like Italy in May. As always, the truth is in the middle. 90% of this board are on the extremes. Know why? People in the middle don’t give a shit about arguing on a message board.
No, no, that’s not how it works. More testing doesn’t automatically equal more positives unless those cases are there. If cases were decreasing you could test the entire population and the positives would not increase.
Exhibit 1: it is all about Trump to his base. A core conspiracy theory they it is about making Trump look bad. Trump’s incompetent response and his lying and ongoing lying have done that for him. The ultimate tragic consequences of Trump’s response then were sadly predicted by scientists two months ago and were posted on this thread. Not because we want Trump to look bad. But because that is the way viruses spread when nobody is immune. While Trump supporters repeated his lies and the non-scientifically supported right wing positions. Here we go again.
I'm all for good news; just not for posters telling us that "literally everyone" should click a little button of apparent approval. And this coming from a poster who has given 4,367 likes to 163 dislikes / 11,000+ agrees and 763 disagrees. Ok, so obviously I have no life. I just don't want to be dictated to as to how I lead my non-life .
Those numbers were without social distancing. From the day the UW model came online that is what most here paid attention to.
Then perhaps you could question the label, as opposed to defending the actions by citing constitutional rights. Few or none of us would happily operate in our jobs while gun-toting dissenters look down upon us from above. I'm confident that none of us would operate under those conditions (i.e. trying to accomplish important tasks in our place of employment while people wearing camo, and hoisting rifles) and excuse it because "well, they have rights to bear arms."
Domestic terrorism might be a bit of an overstatement in many instances, but I am asking if you would perceive it as peaceful? (or as a threat?)
that theory would hold some weight if I was a trump fan. Didn’t vote for him in 2016 and won’t vote for him in 2020. Good try bud. Take the L and move on
Personally, I think that protesting with guns ipso facto screams such things. And you know that some of these folks probably have social media pages that have nothing but tree of liberty quote memes to that effect.
Sorry dude. Don’t know you from Adam. You are the one who said “It’s like you are hoping you are right so Trump gets lambasted.” Wholly apart from the sickness embodied in your accusation of the poster you responded to, that is a core conspiracy theory that has repeatedly been asserted in this thread not to mention elsewhere. Claiming you do not support Trump while repeating a garbage conspiracy theory doesn’t give you a pass. So, there is no “L” to take.
I know it’s hard to be happy about things are getting better. Don’t worry, I won’t tell the rest of the lobbies.
You keep claiming people said things that they haven’t said. Nobody has said they don’t want things to get better or that it is not good that there are places have reduced the rate of infection. I certainly did not. You seem to lack the facility to have a policy discussion or address information and the reason for it without directing personal attacks at people who disagree with you or challenge your facts. Everything is a binary choice of wanting bad news to make Trump look bad or agreeing with you. And you said this to other posters, too. So, don’t expect further engagement.
Has a bit of a W "Mission Accomplished" feel to it. The problem is that even if good news, which it is, the threat is still there and hyping the good news without continued caution feels as if it's some are trying to get to a point perceptually to open things back up despite the risk. Which to mix metaphors, could too easily turn into a spiking the ball too soon moment since no cases for a few days or even weeks is no guarantee of anything, let alone a resurgence not occurring.
I hope you are right...but after seeing people celebrate someone's cancer diagnosis and rooting for his death based on political beliefs, it isn't a huge stretch.
Gotta say RIP is a pretty fair poster. But there are some here who certainly would welcome deaths based on political leaning. They showed themselves previously. A very small minority, but a couple do exist.
Hyping good news is different than just posting it. Mutz, be honest. I trust you. When someone posts a positive thread right now it is gang jumped. Every single time...yet no one mentions the doubling of cases in Georgia that contributed to the increase in new cases. Someone earlier shot down positivity by claiming Germany was increasing again...which isn't even true. The Atlanta Journal has no headline about fraudulent numbers in Georgia. Nor does the Augusta Chronical. I mean what does shooting down good news with half truths and false claims sound like to you?
That messed up data was from 2 weeks back I believe and is corrected in the recent charts and is not all over the news. The AJC and Augusta Chronicle have no front page headlines discussing it because it was fixed.
This is not true at all. We know the positives are there. We also know testing will find more of them. It does not mean the disease is growing within the population. It just means we have a way to catch those cases.
Geez Davis. I was really just saying that should be news we could all agree on...not LITERALLY saying you have to LITERALLY click the button. My use of the word literally is becoming diluted by my teenagers using it for...literally...everything.
