UPDATE: Ahmaud Arbery's 3 murderers all found guilty. Sentenced to LIFE in prison.

It definitely wasn't an older man that made the first call. Go to the very first post and watch that video. They have audio of some of it. No way that is a 64 year old man.

Also everything that I have seen written about the first police call, they redact the name of the caller. WHY? is he not one of the McMichaels? And the first call made to police was to a non emergency line, WHY? If you just witnessed a burglary in progress why not call 911?

 

Only if you want to read it that way. Even in an obvious situation, nuanced side conversations can exist. Why he appears to go toward the gun is a logical question. It does not make the crime any less evil.

It is just a valid question.

 

2 theories
The first is obvious, he made the decision to fight for his life.

My second theory is he didn't see the gun until the last second.
He is jogging along, sees a truck in the road, decides to go to the right of the truck, because the drivers side door was open. Swings around the truck to put himself back on the left side of the road where he was originally jogging and there is Travis point the shotgun at him. He runs tight in to Travis. In the video you see Travis move from the drivers side to the front left side of the truck about the same time Arbery comes around the front right side. You never see Arbery break his jogging pace.

 

agree with both & I'd add a 3rd. I'm sure he knows the hood. Maybe he was trying to get out, get to a busy street, etc. & that is why he turned that way.

Hopefully, next time the races will be reversed. Then we can hear all the ways in which a black man with a shotgun & daddy covering him could have defended himself without having to resort to savagely shooting & killing the white guy.

 

Adding to my above thought. Who knows the non emergency line number of the police? You are standing there and you see this guy possibly burglarizing a home and you take the time to call the non emergency line? Do you have it programmed in the phone? I have called it before and I had to google it.
Very strange detail.

If you listened and read the transcript. The caller is reporting in real time. "there he is" ...."running down the street"

 

I agree with this ... I also noted in my post on page 3 that in the video, the truck door is not open when he breaks to make the run around the right side of the truck ... when the video comes back into view, the truck door is open. I think this is where the guy grabbed the gun from the truck in such a hurry he left the door open, and then he ran to the front of the truck to cut him off. He probably didn't realize there was a gun involved until the guy was charging at him as he passed the front side of the truck. As others had pointed out, no way he kept jogging in the direction of the truck if they had their guns out. From there, he had about 0.1 seconds to decide if it was going to be fight or flight.

 

Enough of an emergency to chase him down in your truck with guns but not enough to call 911.

 

I disagree about the door. It was open the entire time.
Look at the picture you posted:

It is open there and that is Travis standing in the left lane (see his legs) The tan color L shape you see between Travis and the truck is the frame of the open door.
Travis was using himself and the door as a barricade, hence why Arbery ran to the right of the truck.

 

You are right, I went back and watched frame by frame and it does appear the door is open. There is a black box placed over the man in the road that blurs with the door in several of the frames. My bad.

 

The criminal history of the family is irrelevant to whether or not he was murdered.

 

Haven't read all 19 pages, so I'm likely repeating.

But the "could've fled" thing is absurd. He IS fleeing. They removed that option by catching him. Then he fought. Flight or fight, he tried them both.

The party(ies) that could've fled are the pursuers.

If they get out of this on self-defense or a less-than-half-ass "citizen arrest" law, we are officially across the Rubicon.

 

FWIW....I have it programmed into my cell phone because there are times when I feel law enforcement should be notified about something but I feel the situation doesn't rate a 9-1-1 call.

I don't think I've called that number more than maybe 4 times over a 5 year period, but was glad I had it handy.

I think everyone should have that number programmed into their phone.

I've also called the non-emergency police line which I had to look up. It wasn't a situation where I felt the need to grab a gun and chase someone.

 

Both seem logical. Either way his opportunity to explain was snuffed out.

Probably 3 of those calls were for shooting off fireworks too close to where I live. It scares my dogs. I usually don't worry about it too much unless it starts going on for more than an hour, so even then I try to exercise a little restraint.

One time it was a bloke who lived a few houses down so I walked over and asked him to tone it down a bit.

It's against our city ordinance to shoot off fireworks but part of me appreciates the patriot aspect, although living in Florida who knows where patriotism ends and redneck-ism begins.
