Strange times when the 'feel better about it' option is that its a grift. Though it wouldn't work without the sentiment being real.

Or trying to make Christians look bad.

I have no idea if that group is a scam or not. There were just some red flags but I should say a big part of me HOPES it is fake.

We need to come together on this- all political parties, all beliefs, and condemn this (while still giving a fair trial, which is more than these idiots gave Ahmaud.)

Wouldn't shock me if it was a re-purposed Russian disinformation campaign, actually. This seems like the type of thing that they utilize and they often re-purpose their accounts (i.e., a lot of their Twitter accounts in the US election in 2016, where they were supposed to be some "Patriotic American" from Arkansas or something, suddenly started tweeting in perfect French and were now from Calais for the French election).

Christians already make themselves look bad. As with every group there are good and bad apples.

Good call! They also posted in support of Doug Jones in the guise of a Christian group wanting to ban all alcohol. (IN the Alabama senate race.)

I still run (even at my age) and it can be a vulnerable feeling. (And I get a few comments- but not many.)
I can't imagine being black and having some stupid idiotic rednecks chase you down like an animal in 2 pickup trucks, with guns. It literally makes me shudder.

I think part of these redneck's thinking was based on race, but part was also based on "what kind of idiot runs. He must be guilty of something."
They can't fathom running, it seems like the stupidest thing imaginable. (I've had this a form of this conversation with a few rednecks.)
So it was easy to dehumanize him and make him a criminal.

I honestly think they are deserving of the chair.

Yeah I was about to say we don't need any help in making ourselves look bad.
But I still think that group is a fraud or, like Md says, Russians.

74% of Russians identify as some sort of Christian, so I think that is even a bit of a stretch.

There are a large subset of racist "christians" or "culture christians" that exist in the south, I think its more likely that their gun toting, god fearin' meat eating' flag wavin' ways led them to hitting the like button.

(Those quotations mean obviously their perverted interpretation of Jesus)

If you look at the group, it looks fishy. Like possibly Russian agents. Obviously this is much different than average Russians.
But also agree there is a sub-culture who sees Christianity as simply their tradition, and doesn't distinguish it from their other cherished traditions.
Even if those said traditions are completely at odds with Jesus teaching of loving your enemy, dying to yourself, etc.

Info coming out that there was a prior history between the father and Ahmed. I am looking for more than one source.

GBI releases new details after father, son charged with murder of Ahmaud Arbery

Interesting how 2 separate law enforcement offices look at the same evidence.

    GBI- arrest them

    Waycross DA - justified shooting.

    According to Barnhill's letter

The father worked a case that involved Arbery.

Also the DA says there is video of Arbery burglarizing a residence.

In his letter, Barnhill goes on about the criminal history of Arbery family.

Could be someone trying to make money, as is often the case, but coming from a Facebook group with 18,000+ subscribers makes the post look pretty legit.

Same thing happened in that handicapped / parking lot shooting in Clearwater. The local sheriff said it was justified and cleared the shooter. The State DA took over the case, charged him, got a conviction.

    Wait a minute, what?
I admit I haven't paid close attention to the case, but Barnhill said there's a video of the victim burglarizing a house right before the shooting? Is there such a video or is Barnhill just making up stuff?

The only people who know are law enforcement and the person who did the videoing. Nothing has been released to the public.

You would think if this video did exist that the lawyers of the McMichaels would be showing it to every news outlet to prove their clients are in the right.

Up until now the report has been that he looked into the window of a vacant home that was under construction. Burglary is defined as entering a home with the intention to commit a crime, such as theft. I'm pretty sure if he had stolen something, it would have been reported. The house is described as "open to the air" as under construction homes often are before doors and windows are installed. Could be Barnhill is exaggerating what is on the video to justify his inaction.

I read that they saw him walking out of the house.

You are right, there is two versions of what they said they saw. The family’s lawyer says:

Merritt told CNN: "The only thing they have ever said is ... that Ahmaud stopped by a house that was under construction and he looked through the window. We don't know if that happened or not, but even if that did happen that is not a felony that would invoke the citizen's arrest statute that would make this allowable."

But I do see other reports that he entered the house. The police report on page 16 does not say they saw him exit a house, just that they spotted a man who looked like a suspect from break ins “hauling ass” down the road. I guess the part about him exiting a house was something they “remembered” later.

Well have see what the video the DA says he has shows.

I've also heard it was the Roddy dude that saw Arbery leaving the house and that he called the McMichaels and told them.
