Numerous citizen arrests have been made and upheld in Florida. It’s taught in every Florida police academy. It’s more described as “common law”. And it’s not as restrictive as your comments. I can link numerous attorney comments upholding it.

There are guidelines you need to follow.

It’s been done, and will continue to be done.

Not really, but I certainly think there's a defense to be vetted before we string these cats up, which would certainly happen if we left them to the fair, level, justice minded libbies that love to spout their s(tuff) all over THFSG every day, and drown any opinion that fails to sing in harmony with the neo-prog tune du jure.

Oh, and then there's the actual law thing.

I'd say I'm all for defending the actual application of the law, in accordance with that antiquated notion of 'rule of law' that seems so offensive to the Left...

It may have something to do with it if that’s what they were doing and if you follow the case you will find out.

    From 2010

    2010 Georgia Code :: TITLE 17 - CRIMINAL PROCEDURE :: CHAPTER 4 - ARREST OF PERSONS :: ARTICLE 4 - ARREST BY PRIVATE PERSONS :: § 17-4-60 - Grounds for arrest

Not even a vacant house, an under construction house. So it's not even like they were looking after a neighbor's property.

    - Previous literature discusses the dual role of business unit controllers: BU controllers report to the CFO (facilitate overall planning and control) and to the local BU managers (support decision-making within BU) (see Indjejikian and Matejka 2006 - TAR).

    - Previous research also reports that BU controllers become increasingly involved in BU decision-making which may be problematic from a standard economic perspective because it undermines their function as independent reporters to corporate management (i.e., their control function -> reducing information asymmetries) (see Hartmann & Maas 2010 - BRIA).

You keep making this point, but it's not dis positive. At all.

Here's how the GA law reads--the one referenced in the article, anyway--not the self-defense statute, mind you, just the citizen's arrest:

    2010 Georgia Code
    TITLE 17 - CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
CHAPTER 4 - ARREST OF PERSONS
ARTICLE 4 - ARREST BY PRIVATE PERSONS
    § 17-4-60 - Grounds for arrest

    O.C.G.A. 17-4-60 (2010)
    17-4-60. Grounds for arrest

A private person may arrest an offender if the offense is committed in his presence or within his immediate knowledge. If the offense is a felony and the offender is escaping or attempting to escape, a private person may arrest him upon reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion.

The guy claimed that he recognized the decedent as THE guy that had been implicated in several prior 'break ins' in that very neighborhood...who btw, was also witnessed, moments before precipitating his own demise, trespassing onto others' property.

So the pursuers were--on the face of it, and subject to proper vetting--within the citizens' arrest law to pursue the guy.

...then when he turns 180 and goes straight AT the guy with the gun, he triggers self-defense/justifiable homicide.

It appears the killers admit they saw him running down the street & thought he was a guy who commuted burglaries. They aren't even claiming to have seen him engage in a misdemeanor.

Well there ya' go! Beat me to it...but look at that.

Someone who bothered to look to see what the law provides...

And shockingly, not a member of the virtual Too Hot *lynch mob* (figuratively mind you, though duly ironic, and therefore apropos, that the same *lynch mob* concept is projected onto the guys subject to the video here, by our resident virtual libby *lynch mob*...).

There can be valuable shit at a construction site--like copper wiring (gold, to meth heads); he had no proper legal business going into the site, and given the alleged history of the neighborhood, could be easily presumed to be 'casing' for future visit.

What it is patently not, is consistent with jogging.

Just stopped by to admire the 32+ negative ratings racked up by 92 on this thread... seems too few.

I expect these guys get the electric chair for premeditated murder as a hate crime pending some crazy evidence that what we all see isn’t what we all see. Never mind. It was in Georgia.

Y'all just keep ignoring context, and even express claims.

The dad of the shooter expressly claimed to recognize the decedent as the guy implicated in several prior break ins.

I'm not saying I believe him mind you--but you have to affirmatively discredit that claim, before you get to "...no way of knowing [anything about the d's history]", or that he had no direct knowledge of any *malfeasance.*

I'm going to give him some credit here and say he sounds like he's acting as a defense lawyer would. (minus all the libby stuff & lynch mob stuff)
