Obviously a mistake and not a misrepresentation. Because they also run a block with diagnoses cases worldwide and in the US in the right hand corner of the screen.

Let’s all hold The President to the same standard that the right wingers are putting in CNN then. Let’s be clear that someone in that position is not making mistakes, but is misrepresenting the facts. Agreed?

What was he saying when the graphic was posted? That part seems to be left out.

    Be interesting to compare...

The US sits at 1,092,815 confirmed cases and 64,283 deaths...with restrictions in place. We have nearly 10 times their death count despite having less than 60% more population. Obviously the assumption is that we are further along than they are. Will be interesting to see how the numbers compare.

Their first case was at the 26th of February, ours was 20th of January. They are about 5 weeks behind us. 5 weeks ago we had about 3,200 confirmed deaths.

Edit: I had to double-check that number. It seems so surreal that the numbers were that low just a month ago. We didn't hit 10,000 until April 4th, less than a month ago.

I think the date of the first case is only part of the story of how far Brazil is likely behind us in their outbreak. There are a lot more people flying between China and the U.S. than there are between China and Brazil, and a lot more international airports with direct flights from China. The U.S. obviously had large numbers of infected people arrive at multiple locations within a several week period. It is likely that Brazil had a much smaller number of people arrive in Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo. It should have spread slower in a country with fewer infected people introduced and at fewer locations.

Cars are stacking up off the coast of California on ships for a week or more, because there is no place to unload and store them.

It's probably a good time to be in the market for a new (or used) car.

New symptom for coronavirus in Russia: "falling out" of hospital windows.

Three Russian doctors fall from hospital windows, raising questions amid coronavirus pandemic - CNN

They must have some intense meetings. "You just sit by the window. We're out of chairs, so just sit on the window sill. Lean back if you need to gather your thoughts. A little further . . . Ahh! Lost another one."

After they lost two, couldn't they just close the windows?

    Must be an assault window.

    Note to self.

    Ban all assault windows.

Iranian airline linked to Revolutionary Guards 'defied coronavirus ban on China flights'

Iranian airline linked to Revolutionary Guards 'defied coronavirus ban on China flights'

An Iranian airline with links to the Revolutionary Guards Corps may have contributed to the spread of coronavirus around the Middle East after it continued to fly to China despite a ban imposed by the Iranian government, an investigation has claimed.

Mahan Air, a privately owned airline, flew between Iran and China 157 times between early February and March, an analysis of flight tracking data by BBC Arabic found.

The Iranian government banned flights to and from China on January 31.

Mahan said it was suspending flights and ticket sales to and from China on February 2, in accordance with instruction from the World Health Organisation and Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation.

You need to stop thinking about travel from China. The mutated strain of virus affecting the US east coast for examine is from Europe.

They were also in summer during the initial outbreak, now they're entering into winter.

The world wide test kit production is probably not much more than 5 million a day, testing that much every day is neither possible nor necessary.

My point is still valid--there are more flights between Europe and the U.S. than between Europe and Brazil, and a lot more international airports in the U.S. The U.S. simply has more international travelers than most countries, and that made us much more susceptible to initial exposure to coronavirus than other countries. It also made it impossible to quarantine everyone that got off a plane from China and Europe.
