Ok I found the actual interview with Greg Kelly and Fauci on January 21st. Host: Bottom line, we don't have to worry about this on right? Fauci: Well I, uh, you know obviously you need to take it seriously and do the kinds of things the CDC and the Department of Homeland Security are doing. But this is not a major threat for the people of the United States, and this is not something that the citizens of the United States, right now, should be worrying about. While he did say that it wasn't a major threat, he did (in the same sentence) use the qualifier "right now". Nowhere did he state it wasn't a big deal and that it would pass. (I haven't listened to the whole thing so I'm not sure where the sound bite is) On Jan. 26, Fauci gave an interview to John Catsimatidis, a syndicated radio host in New York. "What can you tell the American people about what’s been going on?" Catsimatidis asked. "Should they be scared?" "I don’t think so," Fauci said. "The American people should not be worried or frightened by this. It’s a very, very low risk to the United States, but it’s something we, as public health officials, need to take very seriously." But Fauci also twice described the virus as "an evolving situation," and said, "Every day, we have to look at it very carefully." So again he isn't speaking about what the government should do, but rather how scared people should be at that time.
People are boycotting Costco for requiring shoppers to wear masks in stores — and it reveals the frightening misconceptions that still exist about the pandemic

That's great news. Maybe if enough boycott they'll lift the meat restriction buying and I'll finally be able to get fresh chicken breasts & lysol. People are so freaking whiny.
If we can hold Trump responsible for every sentence he utters, it's only fair to hold other people to the same standard.
so gee, if fauci had said back in january this is something the public should be worried about maybe alot of deaths and the financial collapse could have been lessened somewhat.
Just got back from Publix, Winn Dixie, and Dollar Tree in Madeira Beach. My best guess is 2 out of 10 shoppers had masks on. Any business that requires masks in my area, will be committing suicide. (Pun intended)
I honestly don't get the resistance to masks. They aren't expensive and help protect other people. Are people really so whiny that they refuse to take even the most minimal efforts to help protect other people?
MUH FREEDUMS!!!!!! Don't you know a face mask is one step away from sharia law!!! (I'm just joking here, nobody has said this).
so fauci, who people think says the gospel on this was wrong in january, yet people say trump was slow to re-act, so, just who is at fault here?
Honestly, it strikes me with trying to reason with 3 year olds. "Clean your room" "But I don't wanna!!!!"
I got one for my wife. She’s claustrophobic. She tried to wear it shopping today. No bueno. I just upped her life insurance.
Trump. The buck stops with him whether he likes it or not. He was still saying in late February that we would soon be down to zero cases.
I'm honestly surprised those fauci videos haven't been scrubbed by now. The trump team probably should make some campaign commercials with them before they disappear.
I would agree that doctors are doctors anywhere, and would want to share such information . . . until the government puts a gun to their head and "-re-educates them". If the information makes the government look bad in any way, shape, or form, it is not getting shared. We need to share information with all countries because that's who we are, but we should absolutely recognize that we cannot trust or rely on China for anything, because anyone can be made to say or not say just about anything with a gun to their head. And if you do it to one person, it has a chilling effect on everyone. China has a saying, "kill the monkey to scare the chicken".
