I'm surprised at how many of my friends and co-workers have circulated videos of chiropractors claiming to be Drs and now these two owner/operator urgent care Drs posing as ER Docs dismissing the virus. Of course they all seem to be shrewd business people who are all selling something but their followers gladly sweep that tidbit to the side.

If you come across "Dr" Nepute's videos on Facebook do not comment on them as you will receive multiple automated messages on messenger selling stuff. He has almost 200k followers...SMH

I thought you might enjoy reading that. It sometimes amazes me how a single phone call can change the course of a situation. FDA said hell no, one call later, FDA said yes please. I've seen enough of that before to know but it still surprises me how fickle gubmnt can be under the right political pressure. Scares me to think about the calls I have no clue about.

how would you eliminate it from the blood unless the exposure lasted long enough to account for all of the blood supply being exposed?

Even if this was the UV treatment Trump was referencing, it's in a pre-trial phase. Early, and I mean very early results have been positive. But that doesn't mean the trial itself will necessarily replicate the results. And to push this as a treatment for COVID-19 is dangerous. It is likely that a true vaccine will discovered long before this treatment will be approved to treat any disease.

It's like Trump pushing hydrocholorchine based on early information only, and wanting to make it available without a prescription. It's dangerous and goes against what 99.9% of medical professionals would ever advocate doing.

There's a reason why the CDC playbook on pandemics says the the medical experts, and specifically one expert, should be center stage, and the politicians should only open briefings, make general statements, introduce the experts, and then take a seat. There are potential treatments using UV light, but Trump is as qualified to talk to them as I am. And mentioning them in a nationally televised press conference is potentially dangerous, because there are lay people who are only going to understand the POTUS is advocating something, and certainly not understand the fact that this treatment is in pre-trial phase, what that means, and that long term, there are more questions than answers.

People actually going to agree to open basketball courts but limit games to 3 on 3 and not 5 v 5 like they are going to stay 6' apart while playing 3 v 3. People on teams awaiting their turn to catch the virus from the winner must remain 6' apart. People opening playing fields with restriction to stay 6 feet apart but soccer games allowed. can't make that chit up. The abdication of responsible thought in the name of politics is amazing to me.

death per confirmed cases is holding steady for almost a week now. Local hospital president opined that ventilators are now last choice of treatment as they try to get O2 levels up. It seems we are still learning how to best treat this virus. Would like to see that number go down to reflect better outcome per confirmed case.

Is that correct? Basketball staying six feet apart?

BTW, if we were playing football and I was a DB ... I can assure you that maintaining separation would not be a problem.

Several posters in the Den have said that this is Grantham's preferred defense.

Collier County approved opening up hard courts that include basketball, tennis, pickleball, racquetball, etc. They determined that 3 v 3 basketball was okay but 5 v 5 was not as that would allow more space between players. I was like WTF? You draw your own conclusions.

I believe Grantham already teaches social distancing to our db's in their bail and cover technique so we should be good there.

Two of the smartest Doctors I have ever worked with were Family Practice Doctors who did ER. I haven't followed these two guys making the videos or even watched them but many ER guys end up working UC or owning UCCs, better lifestyle etc.
Point is maybe don't dismiss their views because of letters after their names.(Or lack there of)

I don't know that that's the whole point of it. The theory is because the virus affects and lives more in the lungs you can decrease the viral load by attacking it with UVC. If it runs through an ET all of your blood passes through your pulmonary vasculature in minutes thus exposure could be very quickly.

One of the best ER docs I have ever worked with owns an urgent care locally. Progressive, experienced, knowledgeable and yet humble enough to be one of the best teachers I have ever known.

My criticism has nothing to do with them solely being urgent care docs but their conflict of interest, their message and the totally anecdotal nature of their message which does not deserve respect given they are using their titles to add veracity to their claims instead of actual data and peer review studies...

IHME model now has the projected deaths at 74,073, basically 14K more than it was a little over a week ago. Essentially, it looks like their model's output of a pretty quick dropoff in deaths didn't happen. They appear to be dropping but pretty slowly. A few different potential causes for this. One, in particular, was that the model underestimated the death in areas that weren't early hot spots. The model also could have also have been built on an assumption of the amount of social distancing going on in some sections of the country that overestimated the amount of social distancing.

Their model was said to be based on the experience of other countries, so it's always been odd that they kept predicting such quick declines. The descent elsewhere has consistently been much slower.

Well, like I have been saying, Grantham has taught social distancing in pass coverage for years.
