good read on how responsible adults are working behind the scenes to try and help a potus that has no clue. feel better knowing that there are brilliant people like this with enough political connections to help make a difference. worth the read

The Secret Group of Scientists and Billionaires Pushing Trump on a Covid-19 Plan

A dozen of America’s top scientists and a collection of billionaires and industry titans say they have the answer to the coronavirus pandemic, and they found a backdoor to deliver their plan to the White House.

The eclectic group is led by a 33-year-old physician-turned-venture capitalist, Tom Cahill, who lives far from the public eye in a one-bedroom rental near Boston’s Fenway Park. He owns just one suit, but he has enough lofty connections to influence government decisions in the war against Covid-19.

These scientists and their backers describe their work as a lockdown-era Manhattan Project, a nod to the World War II group of scientists who helped develop the atomic bomb. This time around, the scientists are marshaling brains and money to distill unorthodox ideas gleaned from around the globe.

They call themselves Scientists to Stop Covid-19, and they include chemical biologists, an immunobiologist, a neurobiologist, a chronobiologist, an oncologist, a gastroenterologist, an epidemiologist and a nuclear scientist. Of the scientists at the center of the project, biologist Michael Rosbash, a 2017 Nobel Prize winner, said, “There’s no question that I’m the least qualified.”

Do not sell the USA short in rallying together to come up with a solution sooner than later.

I get that and I'm not meaning to argue with you. Just putting it out there since even if they are confident, I'd prefer to see the data/studies that give them this confidence. That said, it seems safe to assume that there is a not insignificant number of people who have been exposed but not confirmed that we don't know about. The true number remains elusive.

Thank you for sharing this. Have read it three times. It’s the most encouraging piece I have read through this entire pandemic by a long shot. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with three of the investors mentioned in the article at different points over my career. Brian Sheth, personally called me to tell me why they were rejecting me for an MBA internship position after a full day of interviews (just to show you I don’t bring this up to brag and these individuals are not the sharks of Wall Street). Easily could have had an HR person send me an email rejecting me.

Anyways, the scientists are the more important piece of the puzzle. If Trump can shut up and listen to this group of business people and hopefully qualified scientists, I’m far more optimistic.

1 in 5 New Yorkers May Have Had Covid-19, Antibody Tests Suggest

This would suggest a higher infection rate among the population which would go a long way toward the herd immunity.

ACEP-AAEM Joint Statement on Physician Misinformation

Erickson and Messihi are the two urgent care doctors with a viral video about how covid19 is no worse than the flu, death rates are low, and we should all go back to work.

It's really not about "rallying together", it's up to the drug companies and researchers to find a vaccine, and then manufacturing a workable vaccine. Hopefully they don't f it up like they did with the 1st run of tests.

Supposedly the optimistic timeline for vaccine production is 12-18 months. Obviously until then we will have to live with half measures and risk mitigation - and hopefully people don't get stupid in the meantime.

Rallying isn't the issue; labs in every country and in every corner of the world are working on a solution and sharing information. Possibly the most collaborative science we've had in decades if not generations.

Even Google and Apple are playing in the sandbox together.

Collier County approved opening beaches without concessions starting Thursday. I am pretty sure that Marco Island and Naples are going to follow suit. I can see a lot of people leaving Miami/ FLL and heading to Collier County on weekends. Can you say attractive nuisance? Acted on public pressure and assurance from hospitals that they currently have surge capacity

Most states have closed schools for the year, I am hoping summer camps etc can open eventually. Not sure how folks can go back to work with no child care.

    Something light this?

"Aytu BioScience said: “The Healight technology employs proprietary methods of administering intermittent ultraviolet (UV) A light via a novel endotracheal medical device. Pre-clinical findings indicate the technology’s significant impact on eradicating a wide range of viruses and bacteria, inclusive of coronavirus. The data have been the basis of discussions with the FDA for a near-term path to enable human use for the potential treatment of coronavirus in intubated patients in the intensive care unit."

Firm tests UV light treatment that Trump was mocked for mentioning
