Of course not...but short of a complete lockdown until a vaccine, there will be some spread. I mean how can we tell single moms out of work to just wait it out?
Government assistance? Local, state, and federal? But here's the thing, if you send moms back to work that means you need daycare and schools to open again. That's a lot of people all in one place. Unfortunately there just aren't good answers here.
Honestly, I think schools need to make a commitment/announcement within the next month for a lot of reasons. I appreciate your point, things could look totally diff in even a month, but people gotta make plans - students, faculty, etc. My son is going to be a freshman & my wife is a prof, so this something close to home.
Honest to God..I am not even following you anymore. You are pulling quotes from all over this thread from different days and topics and I am honestly not following. Like I said. Not down for a fight tonight. Moving on.
I think Universities will be a bit slow because I think even if they open, they are only going to partially open. So, at best, they are going to have to be pretty creative, which will take some time. Depending on when they start, they will need to announce by early July at the latest.
You asked me to back an accusation. I just quoted the accusation and quoted your quote and described it. Let's put it this way, you have been dismissing the notion that there might be additional deaths for a while.
You never said "for instance." Regardless, there are reasons that we don't do that for something like this, mostly because we can't account for endogenous selection without a history.
United States Coronavirus: 925,038 Cases and 52,185 Deaths - Worldometer Most new cases ever in the US reported today with a few hours to go. Over 38000.
Impressed with CSU's creative thinking. Right out of the box they are considering moving to 1/4s from 1/2s. Simple move, but creates so much more flexibility.
I agree my friend, there are no good answers...but I think you START with the areas that have a cushion, areas with no strain on hospitals or resources as of now.
I have not man. You are making that up. That quote says no such thing. I said MOST are being counted. You are doing some crazy gymnastics to say I have dismissed the possibility.
I agree things need to start but say Wilmington opens up, what stops people from Charlotte or Raleigh from going to your town to get away from their stay order?
I posted it in one of the threads, I think it was this one, that OU announced plans for on campus classes this fall. I have a niece that will be a freshman there this year.
The stay at home orders there? I mean I don't know, but do you literally shut it all down pending a vaccine? At some point, you trust people to do the right thing or we never get going again. That's the issue here. What should we do? Should we wait for a vaccine? Because this will be with us until we have one.
Assuming that most are being counted is dismissive of what turned out to be fact, that many (thousands) were not. Regardless, my initial point stands: you are only looking at statistical bias in one direction. So you are entirely focused on the possibility that the probable death totals are inflated and, therefore, upwardly biased because some amount of the probable deaths might not be Covid. You are still ignoring though that the figure might not be upwardly biased and might still be biased downward because some deaths might have occurred that weren't counted as even probable that were Covid deaths. At this point, we don't have any idea which direction the bias goes, although it is pretty clear that it was, without the probable deaths, systematically lower than the true figures.
One of the reasons if I ever run a 100-102* fever I do not take anything to lower it. Let your immune system work its magic as long as things do not go haywire in the process.
https://www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article242260406.html That's absolutely incredible. If true, this is GREAT news, and a sign that things will be returning to normal much sooner than people realize. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
