I truly hope they can do it. The economic damage that Central Florida will feel with all the parks closed all summer will be an unmitigated financial disaster for them that will last for years to come if not longer. I would love to see FL open starting Phase 1 on 5/15, unless we have a huge spike before then which if that's the case, people start to question why even have the shelter in place. Pretty confident that won't be the case. If trending holds that should put us in the 200-400 new cases a day range which I would hope would be a number most wouldn't have an issue with as far as slowly re opening.
DeSantis has to make some type of decision soon. When he shut down the state, specifically gyms, the order was til May 8th. So he will need to extend it or let it run until the 8th and let everyone open up with guidelines. If he says nothing, there will be no guidelines.
When I walk back from my mailbox .4 miles away, the fitness app on my phone tells me I just walked up 45 flights of stairs - its a bit steep. I do sweat in warmer weather though.
If I was a betting man, and I am, I would bet as long as the current case trend and % positive remains trending in right direction that we open it up at that point, 5/8. I think the % positive is a key number as when we ramp up testing you will see more cases, especially if employers start testing employees and you start to see the asystomatic cases come into play numbers wise.
https://nypost.com/2020/04/03/nearly-9-out-of-10-americans-fear-catching-coronavirus-poll/ Hopefully, this leads to many continuing to integrate infection mitigation into their daily lives following the end of the shutdown in their locale.
As far as testing is concerned, it would go along way if Fl bought tests in bulk and then sold to Fl businesses at cost. I think it is a big ask to have each business have to source their own tests. It would also help with the statistics if a large majority came from the same tests through out the state.
Final numbers of the day new cases +29,973 / new deaths +2,341 What catches my eye is the deaths/1 mil pop today is 144, yesterday it was 137 and the day before that was 128.
it's a coincidence. he has no position, he just twists in the political winds looking to take credit &/or avoid blame.
more people may be dying, but it seems less are infected daily,, after awhile, as the infection rate goes down, and those who are going to die die, the recovery rate will push down the death rate. really need to start watching the increase in recoveries daily.
speaking of numbers, i wish worldometer would list each states daily numbers only once a day.you look at 10 minutes before they are suppose to end their day count you get 1 set, 5 minutes later they add 5000 new cases and 500 new deaths in, just wait until the end or do it once a day for states.
