I've seen a lot of posts that seem to deflect blame from the President to the CDC. It's interesting to note that the head of the CDC is a politically-appointed position that serves at the pleasure of the president. There have been 16 directors of the CDC since 1942; usually changes correlate to presidential terms since the position is politically appointed, but typically a director serves for several years minimum and many of the terms have been 6-10+ years long. Redfield is the 4th director that has served during the 3 years of the Trump administration. Probably not. From looking at some of those graphs they were showing a while back Florida had a pretty heavy influenzu season at the beginning of the year. The numbers I hear thrown out now are that 3-4% of the population has already been infected. It was probably a lower percentage in Feb but if you live in an urban area or deal with a lot of people there's a chance you could have contracted Covid-19. I would assume you didn't though until you can get a antibody test, just to be safe. My wife had a fever for almost two weeks, loss of taste, body aches and a few days of cough. And this was in March, we were SURE she had it but when finally got a test she tested negative. Now in theory it could have been a false negative but it just shows how similar this virus is in symptoms to other existing ailments we normally get.

you make a very valid point, however, I will again take this opportunity to make a few statements that should be obvious to everyone by now. Coronavirus and the subsequent COVID-19 infection is most certainly not the flu. Not the current state of influenza infections that have vaccines, anti-virals and yet still kill tens of thousands every year. Coronavirus and the subsequent COVID-19 is also NOT the flu of 100 years ago pre-vaccine, pre-anti virals where it wiped out tens of millions of people around the globe. No, this is not the flu to be sure. My position is that this disease is certainly different from the flu. However, the human race is much, much better protected against the flu than a virus that just invaded the human race 6 months ago for the first time we are aware of, yet tens of thousands in the US alone fall victim to the flu each year. So, while emphasizing the deadly effects on the human body of COVID-19 and in an attempt to make valid points, we should not trivialize the horrific toll the flu has taken, and continues to take on the human race. The 2009 H1N1 Pandemic killed between 185,000-510,000 globally. The best advice I have seen is follow the course you propose.....give up making comparisons since they are both very deadly respiratory virus infections and just deal with what few facts we know about SARS-CoV-2!

Tyson Foods Waterloo plant to suspend operations indefinitely Tyson Fresh Meats, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods, Inc., announced its plans to indefinitely suspend operations at its Waterloo plant. The plant is the company's largest pork plant. It had been running at reduced levels of production due to worker absenteeism, but will stop production until further notice this week. The company also announced that the plant's 2,800 workers will be invited to come to the plant later this week for COVID-19 testing.
Its a catch 22, more out of shape people taking the stairs, breathing heavily raises your risk of infection.
Rarely took elevators before, certainly wouldn't take them now. If you are only doing 20 or so flights and the place is busy (to include the elevators), doesn't take any more time to take the stairs anyway.
Hospitals are going to get more money form the Gov to care for COFID patients, there is an incentive to classify people with COVID. Don't forget hospitals are bleeding cash right now since all the elective procedures are cancelled and that's where they get like 80% of their revenue from.. Trust me the administrators who run hospitals can be very persuasive on the Medical Staff...

Everytime I hear “herd immunity” this pops to mind. No rationale for it, just the first thing that comes to mind.
I actually bought 4 packs of bacon at Publix last week it was BOGO and I heard about the pork plant closing up. We don't eat it often but it freezes well. Kids like it..
