Live updates: Trump says he’s invoking Defense Production Act as governors urge more federal help with coronavirus testing https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2020/04/19/coronavirus-latest-news/ This should have been done a month ago
If the numbers begin to recede the way they're being projected, that problem will solve itself. "Right now we can't test everyone with symptoms" is vague. No country is testing everybody who has a cough.
Maybe. I look at it this way. She listed the countries that were worse. If I said there are 11 teams worse than Florida in the SEC, I am not wrong by not Listing UGA and LSU.
Something tells me there is more to the details which would explain why this wasn't done a month ago.
I honestly see your point. My hope is that, while I think their zero number seems crazy early, that we can get back to at least normalcy in that time frame. As for sports....I am just hoping that with The Lightning and Rays both being championship caliber teams that their window of opportunity does not get stolen.
so so what proof do you have that in a month if the numbers go down and social distancing goes away they will climb again?i say they will not, and my guess is as good as yours.
Well total honesty would require a list 195 countries then. Again. I don't see how what she did was a big deal.
He is likely basing it on the fact that we have no widely accepted treatment of vaccine. So under that situation he is likely correct. Now, I think the number can be managed to allow normalcy to return, but how can the number not at least climb a little in an unchecked environment?
There could be, but the picture out there is the federal govt was pushing the states to handle it. When all that did was cause competition and confusion among the states. A blanket DPA order could have been issued so companies could prepare to participate. The administration was counting on companies to volunteer(which many did) but the order would have brought the weight and power the feds into the picture. Everyone has been saying for a month now and longer that testing would be key.
This was sarcasm, right? COVID-19 coronavirus: Top ten most-affected countries Coronavirus outbreak: The countries affected so far Coronavirus world map: which countries have the most cases and deaths? U.S. has 9th most deaths per million
I agree. We're going to have to reopen the economy in the not too distant future. I think if we can get the daily death toll down to the low hundreds and keep it there, that's just a tradeoff we're going to have make. Hopefully with more and better testing, we'll get to that point within the next couple of months.
I thought that representation in the presser was the context of the conversation. That representation clearly demonstrated selection bias. Perhaps you could have just admitted that and moved on . And while scientists are frequently guilty of faulty methodology, presenting invalid conclusions, etc. the community of scientists (at least those with any integrity) also face the most in-depth scrutiny known to mankind. I won't pretend to know about the complex relationships between scientists and the pharmaceutical industry, but would suggest that nefarious activity is more on the industry side of things.
Because it is not true. The constant politicizing of this is just filling the air with misinformation on all sides. The PARENT company is bankrupt, but the company contracted is 100% still in business and is due to deliver the masks on April 23 according to Business Insider. Wall Street Journal also quotes company execs as saying the asks are on the way:
Who's the other one? I have never heard anyone talk about it. ....Sorry @gatorknights could't help myself
