I was only focusing on yesterday's presser Not meant as any criticism of the entire body of her laudible work. But the bar for a graph at a presser meant to inform the public about an ongoing dangerous public health crisis needs to be set at the highest point.

Complete truth and facts or you're failing at doing your job. We deserve it and should demand it and give no leeway to anything that falls short. It's not an overstatement imo to say that people's lives hang in the balance.

I'll reiterate, I'm disappointed and frustrated because she's the real deal and such a terrific scientist. And I don't want to feel either.

A part of her job is to not get replaced with a sycophant.

No doubt about it, even if an extremely troubling reality.

I wish it were correct but I very much doubt it is.

I actually understand where the doubt is coming from...but this group has forecast the short term pretty well. That gives me hope. I think it has been a bit like hurricane forecasting. Their cone is narrowing....

    ...I hope.

Well dyno will appreciate this weeks stroll (wouldn’t call it a full hike). Almost Everyone still being respectful of distance. But this is Goose Creek...Runs behind my neighborhood, several miles into the Potomac. Crosses a few streets along the way.

It's a conundrum. If she's willing to be obsequious to trump to keep her job, she is a sycophant.

Except that she knows she is doing it, and knows what the truth is, and will push the limits on how much truth can sneak into these press conferences.

The day is not quite done, but as of now, we're showing 1,507 deaths today and that model predicted 2,159 deaths for today. I believe we have 40 minutes left for that number to change.

Looking at their projections they have us down to 45 deaths for the entire country 1 month from now. I don't see how that is at all realistic. Barring a sudden vaccine or cure or a much higher level of social distancing I don't see how you go from 2000 deaths to 45 in a month. And they have us at 0 deaths from mid June on. It's not like CV is just going to disappear.

Because she intentionally excluded countries with lower rates to make US look better

So you believe that the socialized medical programs are better than the US private medical system?

It's all about the spread/new cases. If they are able to test and contact trace, once those new case numbers start dipping, that becomes an easier task. We're already seeing a slight decline the past week or so. It gets a lot easier to isolate the less cases you have. Like I mentioned further up, they had us projected for 2,159 deaths today. Looks like we're going to come in 600~ shy of that. So I wouldn't say they're underestimating at this point. We'll just have to see.

But she is providing credibility to incorrect or incomplete data. If T throws Dr Phil up there instead he loses even more credibility

We need a whole lot more testing available before we even start thinking about contact tracing. Right now we can't test everyone with symptoms.

It's not their near term projections I have an issue with. It makes sense that the numbers will come down in the next few weeks. But I don't see how we get to just a few deaths per day by the end of May. I think we are stuck with at least a few hundred deaths per day for the next number of months. And as the numbers get lower, social distancing will decrease, which will make the numbers go higher. But obviously I am no expert. I'm just saying what makes sense to me. Hopefully I'm wrong. I want baseball and football and I'd like to be able to see my parents who are locked up in an ALF. I'm really tired of this shit.
