This has been one of the lies repeated over and over by the anti science crowd. I can’t even deal with these brainiacs anymore.

There's no way to know if the initial estimates were off because we've taken extreme measures to prevent those estimates from becoming reality. Looking at it though, I think with no social distancing at all, more than 1 million deaths in the US is not an unrealistic estimate.

I read these things and think “It can’t be true”

They clearly couldn’t produce them. They don’t have facilities. At best they are a middle man we subcontracted they work out to, and paid a mark up to, rather than do the procurement work ourself.

That’s speculation on my part. But this stuff smells like someone raking a cut off a pass through order.

Maybe there’s a sensible explanation. But this quacks like a duck.

Here is a model that shows the different numbers based on type of quarantine:

This model predicts the last day each state can act before the point of no return

Now this one shows a much lower number of deaths in FL roughly 6000, but early in the Pandemic, mid March, the prognosis was about 2.2M deaths in the US based on then-current projections and when most of the country was just social distancing.

"I got a flu shot because they said 30% of people who don't get flu shots catch the flu. I didn't catch the flu. That flu shot was a total waste of time."

so, from 2.2 million with social distancing to around 70000, again with social distancing, quite a large swing and miss.

As usual you are wrong. We are doing quite a bit more than just social distancing right now.

The Post reported that the Federal Emergency Management Agency was paying Panthera about $5.50 per mask, decidedly more than what the government pays companies with an established background in producing medical supplies such as 3M, which charges about $0.63 per mask.

that contract needs to be cancelled yesterday. Hopefully a legit IG steps in and fast. Not sure how FEMA determined tha tthis company was qualified. Someone needs to find out who did the review. Something tells me that Kushner has something to do with this

Is DHS one of the IGs we still have or another one that Trump fired...you know...to stop corruption...

Have to wonder if they masks are being brought in on the air bridge being paid for by the taxpayers and Kushner is directing by phone so that Congress cannot get records of his directions to FEMA as there will be no email directions to document what he told whom to do with what supplies as they come in.

The 2.2 million projection was with no changes in our behavior at all. That is if everyone went about their business exactly as before.
